I did have a lovely evening,a bit tired now, we were up till 3.00 am, daughter's partner cooked a really tasty curry and lots of red wine flowing. I llike both his parents, his mum is a little reserved but his dad is French .......say no more .......

Oh dear Catie, I hope you are not getting the same weather as here, it's pouring with rain.

The cats have survived the night without me, although I am a bit worried about Alfie, I think he may be having fits. He was going round and round in a circle, not chasing his tail though and then stopped and sat huddled up and he looked like he was hiccuping. That's twice he's done it, not rushing off to the vets just yet though.

I would love to find something interesting in my ancestors, my cousin would do well, his mum married the third son of a Lord but he's not even interested.

Thanks for the wishes everyone.

Jane your card has just arrived for mum but she is asleep at the mo.

So is OH so I am in the kitchen all on my own.

Still sunny here but there is a cold wind and we have the heating off at the moment and it's feeling a bit chilly on this north side of the house.

Still picking toms in the tunnel when I get time and still putting stuff out on the stall outside. Chickens going off lay now and only getting about 5 or 6 eggs a day from the 17 chickens.

There was no wedding folks...... Received a call last night to say it had been cancelled and Sophie had called it off. The whole business was a bit strange to be honest. The chap was 17 years older than Sophie and I wonder if having lost her father of late, she saw him as a bit of a father figure and then realised she had made a mistake. They had only known each other a few months and he was of a different religion. Another friend called me today saying that the family had expected her to convert, although he had told her that she didn't have to. I met the guy once...very handsome...and very wealthy. He actually owns 3 houses in this area. IAnyway, my instincts tell me that Sophie made the right decision. Goodness .... My OH hasn't stopped moaning about the amount I spent on a new outfit lol. There was no..''poor Sophie''..
Maureen... Do hope little Alfie isn't having fits...poor little soul.

Afternoon everyone.
Shirl you will feel like a new woman with your new hairdo. If you find having your hair done as relaxing as I do you should be chilled a little.

Maureen ,can you not ring the vets for advice on Alfie.Just explain what has happened. They don't charge for telelphone advice.I do hope he is alright ,although from what you said about him being chucked off a balcony and the possibility of him having brain damage it does sound like a symptom.I hope not and will keep everything crossed.
I don't want to mention my four legged fiend .He has been an absolute pain in the backside today. He hasn't stopped mythering (sp) me.I have been almost driven round the bend with him.
Fitz has been here ,as his pooter is down and he wanted to see the Emails that Ann has sent .re different cencus for Edies parents.

I bet your daughters ,partner's father was quite gragarious ( my spelling is atrocious)

Maureen

Maureen Report 16 Oct 2010 16:04

Well at least Sophie had the sense and courage to call it off now, would have been much worse later Catie. If she doesn't want him, send him over to me, sounds like quite a catch ..... good looking and money ....lol

My car insurance is due. I wish I could just do it for the next five years and be done with it, I get bombarded with letters from insurance companies and I don't find the web sites very helpful, I go through all the questionaire then find at the end of it something's not right and if I do it over the phone getting quotes you have to go through the same questions a hundred times. It's only once a year but it seems to come round bloomin' quicker every year.

Jane

Jane Report 16 Oct 2010 16:07

Oh Catie if I was your size I would offer to buy your outfit for the wedding I am going to next month lol.Sadly I will have to go looking somewhere where I can buy something larger !!!
I think Sophie has made the right choice for her.Shame it was today. If it is not meant to be!!.Bit of an awkward situation though for everyone (family wise).
Can I ask ,was she expected to convert to Jewish?

Maureen

Maureen Report 16 Oct 2010 16:12

If I ring the vets Jane I will just get a receptionist who will say 'bring him in' I have a feeling things are not right with Alfie and am steeling myself for the worst.

You're right about daughter's partners dad, very outgoing, I had to resist the temptation to go: HEE HAW, HEE HAW. Catherine Tate style ...lol

Jane

Jane Report 16 Oct 2010 16:23

Maureen ,If I ring the vets when they are closed I get a number for the vet on call and they will give advice.I hate to say it ,but if little Alfie is going to start developing major problems ie fits,it may be kinder to do 'you know what'.Not just for his sake but for yours as well.
I laughed to see your Hee Haw .I had thought Haw he Haw he Haw lol

Maureen

Maureen Report 16 Oct 2010 16:30

I can't believe the inflated prices the vets charge. Have just ordered some worming tablets, price £1.69. Last year I let the vet give it when they had their cat flu jabs, price £6.00.

Maureen

Maureen Report 16 Oct 2010 16:33

I know Jane, you have just said what I am thinking, still, will give it a bit longer to see how he goes and at least he has had a lot of love and affection in the last couple of months. I think he used up all his nine lives when he fell from that balcony.

MillymollyAmanda

MillymollyAmanda Report 16 Oct 2010 16:43

Oh Catie ,at least Sophie had the sense to call it off instead of going through with it and then regretting what she had done , why do men always think of the cost of things !!!!

Maureen , do you think Alfie has an ear infection ? that might make him keep going round and round , my dog Bonnie got an ear infection and she kept going round like that.

We're off out to sisters tonight ,we have a good old natter and put the world to rights lol

Jane

Jane Report 16 Oct 2010 16:49

Last week I paid £42 Chesters anti inflammatory med.Have stopped it just now ,because of the tilly trots.Another £20 on the spay for his BTM which is brilliant.
Whatever happens Maureen Alfie has been given the best chance in life ,because of you being an animal lover. When you think of it ,how on earth did he survive that fall??

CatieI

CatieI Report 16 Oct 2010 17:58

I really feel for you Maureen, with little Alfie. I hope he will be ok - he's so lovely.

Jane.... The chap is Muslim, although he said he wasn't religious himself.
I've just spoken with Sophie and she said that the parents stated that if she didn't convert, they wouldn't speak with her. The chap also let it be known that he would want any children to be brought up as Muslims. Sophie is very confused, but didn't feel things were right and also felt she had been rushed into marriage. She's known him about four months.
Maureen...don't they say that the first time you marry for LOVE and the second time for MONEY lol...... I would never marry for money....Would always have to be for love lol

Mandy...enjoy your natter lol

Jane

Jane Report 16 Oct 2010 18:25

My friend had pressure from her prospective in laws to become Jewish .She went to classes with the Rabbi ,but in the end realised she couldn't do it because it would be forced.I think Sophie has made the right decision .Lucky escape I think !!!

CatieI

CatieI Report 16 Oct 2010 18:38

I think you are right Jane. Sophie feels really bad about it....but she was sensible to cancel if it didn't feel right.

CatieI Report 16 Oct 2010 20:38

No such luck Fiona....He's not too happy as more job cuts will be announced on Monday and he thinks he will be one of the ones to get the boot.
Sorry to hear your computer is playing up....what a nuisance and to replace them is expensive too.
