I am not a devil worshipper because I take my 10 year old child trick or treating.

I am not evil......... I dont worship Satan.

If my child wants to dress up I will let her, but be a responsible parent & go with her, respecting people, their property and try to avoid the elderly, and those with notes to say trick or treaters not welcome.

My child is well adjusted, she knows Halloween & dressing up is not real. She knows my beliefs on life after death, that I married in a United reformed church, and she was christened in the Methodist church

I allow her to believe what she wants, when she wants, its her choice.

I wont have any mad bint tell me I'm a bad mother for my choices.

How very dare she. I'm worth a thousand of her

Hear hear Mildred.

Absolutely spot on.....Though mine aren't christened into any religion but that's just personal choice.....They certainly aren't devil worshippers.

They're good kids.....polite, well adjusted and I'm absolutely shocked and disgusted that they AND me have been labelled as beggars.

You're not a bad mother, and neither are the thousands who allow their children to HAVE FUN respectfully xx

its what normal loving parents do

Must admit I never bothered reading the thread,

I had spiderman and his mum at my house tonight!

What a good idea - he goes 'trick or treating' in his jammies and straight to bed afterwards!! LOL

If Devil worship and Halloween go hand in hand wouldn't it follow that all the bonafide Devil worshipers would be far to busy on this , their special night to take their kiddies trick or treating ?

I think we are all in the clear : ))

Whats the betting that she gave sour grapes to anyone who knocked on her door tonight.............lol

If you'd seen the two little girls from next door - one a fairy the other a ballerina with their mum. Just gorgeous with the most wonderful manners. Evil? I don't think so.

I just thought it a bit much for someone who is such a disgrace to her own values, to be coming out with all that old carp attacking other parents ...........which isnt christian at all.

I wonder how Mel would treat her children if they rebel and turn into tree worshipping new age people or confirmed atheists.

Take no bloody notice she was a raving lunatic tonight!

You know what? I dont' agree with this Americanised Halloween at all. Not for any religious reason. It is All Hallows Eve, which the Christian church placed at the same point in the calendar as the old Pagan festivel of a similar nature. I have nothing against the Christian or Pagan festivities.

But this isn't is it. It is a huge commercial venture which is paying off for industry, with all sorts of businesses and supermarkets especially cashing in on it all.

I don't think anyone is a bad parent just because they take their kids trick or treating, nor do I think it's begging. Funny how Mel has nothing to say against the old practise of 'penny for the guy'...which isnt' done any more granted...because trick or treat has taken over.

What I do see as a bad parent, is one who claims to teach her kids values, but doesn't instill them into them, instead letting them take their 'own' view....but then can't live by them herself. She is certainly not leading by example. Don't do as I do, do as I say, is not the way to go.

I've had half a doz knocks when ive been in today, been out a lot, but every knock has been chaperoned and very well behaved kids, I bought three bags of sweets and have two unopened in the kitchen.

Each knock has had at least three kids looking fab and very bell behaved.

Quite disappointing here, we had one group of five mixed ages early on, only 3 of them dressed up, they had sweets. Then later on (we have a security camera that shows on the TV) we had two teenagers, we were eating our meal so didn't go to the door. Then we have had no more at all.

The bad parent isn't you Elaine you are a FUN parent having some FUN and laughter with your kids..
The Bad Parent is the one who doesn't let them do like the other kids who are having fun...
By Heck we need a bit of fun at the moment...

Muffyxx

Muffyxx Report 31 Oct 2009 22:11

All the knocks here occured between half six and half seven.

NONE of them were impolite.

NONE of them were unaccompanied.

ALL of them were dressed up and thoroughly enjoying themselves.

Had one batch of 3 teenagers at about half seven. They got 2 fun sized mars bars each same as the little ones and they were as good as gold.

As i said before..........when my girls were out they had people ASKING them to knock at their house as they had loads of sweets they wanted to give away and kids round here will NOT knock unless there are definate signs they want to be disturbed xx
