Karen,
I have read the potatoe peel society book and really liked it. Let us know what you think when you have finished it.

At the moment I am reading The little House by Phillipa gregory. One of the recommended on Greaders on the Genes General Board.

have just finished a book called Alibi I don't remember the authors name, and I've taken it back to the Library. it is set in Venice shortly after WW11.

Just finished ( last night ) Somewhere to lay my head by Robert Douglas, his second book about his time in the army after moving down from his native Glasgow to England.
His first book Night Song of the Last Tram is about his childhood in Glasgow , his fathers return from the war and the death of his mother, as I come from the area he writes about I could imagine myself back in the tenements of Glasgow, walking down the same streets and playing the same children's games as him, I really enjoyed both books.

I also really enjoyed reading The Kenneth Williams Diaries, it's a bit dog eared now though as I keep re reading it.

I'm just trying to get into The Other Boleyn Girl by Philippa Gregory at the moment - before I watch the movie. I'm finding I can't get into it yet. I'm a bit slow at the moment with my reading but I've also got a Barbara Erskine book to read - can't remember the name off hand - and they are always a good read. I also like Maeve Binchey.
