No Liz......no old drawers around here.......only the Marks and Sparks biggies.....

slightly off topic......conversation with daughter some years ago.....

Daughter: Mum, you like sewing, don't you....

Me: Yes, well I like embroidery and cross-stitch....

Daughter: I have all these labels to sew into ****'s school uniform, would
you do it for me....

Of course, I did.......soft idiot that I am.....

ANNINA........I'd like you to know, that when I woke at 4.30''ish this morning, I was thinking about your drawers in helmet thread..........still haven't come up with any decent answers.....

Hope I don't miss the answer.......could someone please PM me in case I miss why........ta

One thing did come to mind.......is he a bit lacking in the hair department (follicly challenged)......and knickers chafing on the cranium stimulate hair growth?...........saw a news item once where a farmer had a cow who licked his head and he grew thick hair on that spot..... OR......is he worried about the inside of the helmet chafing his skull and damaging his hair....

......stupid things that go through the brain when you can't sleep.....

Just thinking about that business of names sewn into our school knickers....what type of girls did they think we were, that we might take off our knickers at the drop of a hat, and then forget where we'd left them???!!!Bizarre.

Ahhh.......another thought, he is going somewhere hot.......the knickers are of a shape that will mould into the inside of the helmet.......and being cotton will soak up any sweat......

......still thinking.....

Thinking about names sewn in our clothes, I was a kid during the war, and living east of London, so we had bombing. We had our name and address on discs sewed in on our clothes, mine to my liberty bodice. Had to be sewn on every week after washing the garment.
Looking back now, and it brings a shiver to me, is that these were put on our clothes in case we were killed in an air raid or injured, to let next of kin know.

Annina
What a laugh
Have I missed the answer as I have only jusrt come across the thread

How old is your son and do you think you might cause him great physcological damage when his pals see your handiwork.
I like Merlins idea of a chin strap
I picture a 6ft biker with a lug through each leg hole, nice soft gusset under chin, elasticated top neatly and lovingly Im sure stitched around the inside of the helmet
All to stop the strap from chaffing !!!!!!!!!!
Please Please think again woman
Great to see the good old Yorkshire name keks used instead of panties
When are we going to be put out of our misery ?
