If he hadn't run away to Brazil ...he would have been free years ago.
But that was his choice.

I think he should be. His crime is over 45 years old. I don’t think he would be a danger to society now. So why keep him in an institution that is already over crowded and undermanned. There are enough crimes today that need the authorities attention.

Look I,m stupid ...................

What did he do ???

Yes he robbed a train but what else did he do !!??

I really dont understand it ...if he only robbed a train and left England why hes still being kept by tax payers money !!

SallyF

SallyF Report 18 Jan 2009 18:52

kemp because of the actions of him and his gang a train worker died after suffering awful injuries. He didn't just rob a train.

KempinaPartyhat

KempinaPartyhat Report 18 Jan 2009 18:53

Ok I just read all about it ........

Let him out like Hayley says if he had done that today he would already be out ...........................

prehaps he can remember where he put that money !! ....LOL

The train driver died in 1970 the robbery was 1963,....so they didnt murder him

Silly Sausage

Silly Sausage Report 18 Jan 2009 19:05

There is no proof of that. Do you honestly think that would stand up in a court of law today and be a fair trial. I doubt it very much.

How much extra care and security does he need because he is a dying man in prision.

KempinaPartyhat

KempinaPartyhat Report 18 Jan 2009 19:06

George I dont really know the case but it does annoy me that if and when he comes out he can get to that money ...........

And I dont agree with what he did in any way but the murders of Jammie Bulger are out .............and they are young healthy adults able to do it again .....

SallyF

SallyF Report 18 Jan 2009 19:10

George is right the man died as a result of his injuries. It's only because the time limit for murder had passed that they weren't charged with his murder.

Silly Sausage

Silly Sausage Report 18 Jan 2009 19:14

Sally ~~~~ there is no way they could ever charge them with his murder as there is no proof that it was the robbery that killed him
They should put the manpower and resources in to drink drivers, who cause deaths with careless actions,

How many drink drivers do you know or read about who have served more that 3 years for their crimes? The footballer is a classic example 3 years and killed 2 boys..I ask you.

SallyF

SallyF Report 18 Jan 2009 19:18

The man never worked again and died in pain several years later. The reason they weren't charged at the time of his death was because the statute of limitations had passed so they couldn't be. Whether there is proof or not the authorities are certain the injuries sustained in the attack were the cause.
I haven't said one way or the other whether he should be kept inside. I was pointing out to Kemp that it wasn't just a train robbery, someone got seriuosly hurt.

Quote:
The train’s driver, Jack Mills, was hit over the head during the robbery and left badly injured. Sadly, he never returned to work, and died in 1970 without having made a full recovery.

So whether he died as a direct result of his injuries or not is immaterial to me. They ruined his life. So it wasn't a victimless crime.
Whether Biggs should be released I really don't know. Yes others who have done worse crimes have been freed. But should that mean that it doesn't annoy people when it happens? And many people of ill health have stayed and died in prison. He may actually be looked after better inside than when he comes out.

KempinaPartyhat Report 18 Jan 2009 19:28

But even if he had been charged with the murder of this man ....he would have been let out before now .......................

As we all know life is never life
