The biggest tax fiddle pulled off since Cromwell spoke out in
parliment.
IF you look back in the Doomsday Book--youll see adverse
weather patterns repeated since 1080---from growing wine
and tomatoes prior conquest--Sunamis in 1100s and then
200yrs after 18 weeks solid rain in Britain/Europe people
starving, nothing growing, and on and on--heavy winters
in 1800s
well have a good night

Must agree you can tell how little the most people who rabbit on about Carbon foot prints from cars, and planes never seem to realize that the temperature has fallen steadily since 1998 and is back to 1980 levels.Any way the water vapour is the most powerful of the so called greenhouse gasses

Glad to see Colin some people are willing to go against the fanatics but as you say it's a scam got up by them on evidence that wouldn't get accepted anywhere else
As for the Greenland sea ice the Vickings farmed in Greenland and sailed their boats in and out and far to the north. not much sea ice then in the summers
expected more response but we are a voice crying in the wilderness at the moment

Mrs. Blue Eyes Report 20 Jul 2008 12:25

It's not that I disagree with your hypothasis I just don't see how Governments would benefit from putting forward a "fact" like that, either moneywise or any other way.......

George_of_Westbury

George_of_Westbury Report 20 Jul 2008 12:34

I agree Colin, i find it amazing that when we have a hot day the Greenies call it global warming, when its cold they change it to climate change.
I bet none of them who advocate this impending disaster, give up their cars, flying to go on holiday, to lessen their "carbon footprint" most of all the members of the Government who still fly half way around the world to attend some meeting on this subject then tell us we have to alter our ways, talk about "do as i say"

Yes another way to tax us even further,

See you all in "HADES" at least down there no need to switch on the heating, so that will lessen my "carbon footprint", i wonder who drummed up that laughable term.

Hi Colin...Am afraid I disagree with you there...after watching Al Gore's *Inconvenient Truth* video...have just googled it but can only find the trailer

Think if you are interested in Global Issues....this is a must to see!

The goverment is going to tax carbon emmissions, tax houses that they SAY are not eco friendly, add surchardes here and there, and thus increase their income.
We do need to clean up our act but we also need to be critical of badly thought out Greeny solutions like bio fuel etc. or airmiles for food as though heating a green house for six months in a year wont give the same carbon emmissions
Go to it Colin we are fed up with half truths and poor science being presented as the truth
Al Gores film is not allowed to be used in schools because it contains so little FACTUAL CONTENT

Al Gore is another one who jumped on the greeny bandwagon, very little factual data in his report.

There was a programme on TV some months ago (unfortunately I didn't watch it but OH did) giving scientific reasons as to why this "global warming" is nonsense and is just being used as a way of increasing taxation.

Rambling Report 20 Jul 2008 14:28

Whether it is 'nonsense' or not...

I suspect any of you who live in areas which will inevitably flood because of it would rather err on the side of caution? (I do at the moment)

If indeed making an effort to cut down on greenhouse gases, pollution and destruction of habitats does NOT stop global warming in the future , then at least it will make the environment we live in now a little pleasanter! :)

Governments will always make money out of situations via taxes..........but whatever you believe about Global warming the oil is running out fast and we all need to conserve our resources better and learn to live "greener"lives I think.

Merlin Report 20 Jul 2008 14:40

As far as I can see the only "Global Warming/Hot Air" Comes from inside "The Houses of Parliament",and the "So Called" Green Taxes, are just a cover for getting more money to cover all that Wasted by Brown and Co.**M**.

Terry

Terry Report 20 Jul 2008 14:44

Grief places got flooded before 1990 and houses got washed and the sea swept in
sea ice melting doesn't raise sea levels, and if you looked at NASA's global temperatures over the last twenty years you'd find they have peaked in 1998 and are sinking again.
Agree we do need to clean up our act.

maggiewinchester Report 20 Jul 2008 15:04

So what caused Dunwich to be swallowed up by the sea in the 14/15th century?
Coastlines are not permanent structures - they move - that is the nature of the beast - it is NOT global warming!!

I would believe government 'Gobal warming' propoganda more if it wasn't all take take take from them
I actually got excited when a carbon 'passport' was considered, where those who don't use up all their quota could sell it to the greedy ones. Fantastic I thought - then those of us who don't drive and don't go flying off every couple of months or so could gain something!!
BUT - this would mean penalising the wealthy - making them pay something extra at the benefit to the POOR.
So this idea was sidelined.
Next idea? Tax older cars more!! YES. All those 'poor' people who have the audacity to buy second hand cars (or recyclers) should pay more NOW. Not in the future, but now, because they are doing the car manufacturers out of money, and how close are governments to car manufacutrers? Pretty close I'd say!!

If they really wanted people to drive their cars less, they'd develop a decent public transport system - one that was run for the benefit of the people not for the profit of the company.

Terry/George..Have you actually watched Al Gores film?

There was enough scientific evidence there to convince me....perhaps our Govmt have other reasons for not wanting it shown in schools..just a thought.

Rambling

Rambling Report 20 Jul 2008 15:38

yes of course flooding has been a threat for centuries....lol always...somewhere in the world...

I think trying not to accelerate or aggravate a bad situation is no bad thing?

'IF 'natural' global warmimg is even partly aggravated by our 'man-made'greenhouse gas emissions then the rate at which the ice caps melt is affected surely? and no that may not cause any more flooding...but it will affect the warm current which passes the UK (the Gulf stream) and thus our climate....

I am not well up on the Gulf Stream to be honest , I am sure someone will be able to explain its affect on the environment, fishing etc...

Terry

Terry Report 20 Jul 2008 15:41

Yes I actually did!! I also watched Bambi when I was little and belived in in it but I'VE GROWN UP AND NOW HAVE THE ABILITY TO READ GATHER FACTS AND REALISE BOTH PICTURES HAVE SOME TRUTHS IN THEM but the glaciers in southern Norway are growing again, the Greenland ice cap is getting thicker, see reports from independent sources
aS FOR THE SHOWING OF aL'S FILM IT WAS TAKEN TO THE HIGH COURT AND THE JUDGES THERE AS ANYONE WILLING TO SOURCE OUTSIDE THE SO CALLED GLOBAL WARMING GANG. FOUND IF I REMEMBER CORRECTLY IT LACKED A SUFFICIENT SCIENTIFIC EVIDENCE AND WAS BIASED IN ITS PRESENTATION OF THOSE FACTS IT HAD
I for one would like a real discussion , and real alternatives because yes we do have to clean up our act.
