Someone is selling the 1881 census discs for the whole of the UK. They say they are still quite new, how much would you expect to pay for them.

Hi Susan,

Thanks for your reply, it was just someone selling them on Rootschat and they said they were quite new. They asked £20 plus P & P.

Betty are you not a member of Ancestry? Only you can see all the census's on there as well as other records.

LDS sell the British vital records as well as other censuses for USA, USA vital records, Mexico, europe and many others...all very cheaply. I don't remember paying p&p but could be wrong......the resources part of the site is well worth looking at. There is also a free download of a database.

The 1881 also has the Scottish one with more details.....and those at sea

Hi Susan,

This is just someone on Rootschat selling the disc herself!! Its not Rootschat selling them.

There is no Irish census on them

It's up to you Betty but would you be sure they are not damaged/scratched?. For just a couple of pounds extra you will get them new. I think £20 is a bit steep for second hand.....just my opinion mind you.

Hi Susan,

Thanks for offering to do a lookup but I really wasn't needing a lookup at the moment but just thought the 1881 census disc for the whole of the UK would be handy to have.
Thank you for the offer though and it was very much appreciated thank you!!

Betty - the 1881 census is totally free on familsysearch.org and lots of other places as well.

The discs are therefore worth absolutely nothing at all.

Susan719813 Report 9 Jul 2008 14:46

I have just searched for one of the names I know Betty is looking for, on the IGI and there is no Scottish census listing for him or the surname on there.

Sorry, I missed the 'whole of the UK' bit. My mistake!

Hello Eldrick and Susan,

Hi Eldrick yes the discs are for the whole of the UK. I am not sure if would include Ireland or not.

Hi Susan do you know of any discs from the LDS that I could buy which included Ireland?? Tried the local LDS centre but you have to order discs from America.

Update...can't find it...but remember phoning one of them to ask where the UK distribution centre was and they gave me the number.....just tell any one of them what you want to buy and they will put you in the right direction....everso helpful they are :-)

Have you been to any of the Mormon churches , they will order in specific census for a few pounds and you then go and look at them there. There is one in Glasgow -not sure about Dundee.
