I do......................................................................................,
...........................................................................................,
I will say yes to any task put to me, I long for knowledge, no to be better than others but so that I know for myself I can answer something or know how something is done, I don't claim to be an expert, no one is.

This is not an attack on anyone.
just a question to see who does what.

Eeyore13 Report 19 May 2008 13:20

Yes me too & I will also turn down offers of help 'cause there are things I'm convinced I do best-It's called BEING STUBBORN!!

Eldrick

Eldrick Report 19 May 2008 13:22

Yes, I constantly challenge myself and others as well, in order to understand the world around me.

I use my knowledge of life, the world, people and myself, tag on a bit of common sense and drop in a teaspoonful of logic.

I disagree with the term no one is an expert.

Would you let someone perform open heart surgery on you if they were an amateur....?

OH

OH Report 19 May 2008 13:23

Hi Carla, yes, it would be a boring world if we were all the same.

OH

OH Report 19 May 2008 13:27

Good to see you back Eldrick,,
When I say "No one is an expert"
it is because we are all constantly learning new things everyday, even those who have the title of expert must keep up with courses to be on top.

Eeyore13 Report 19 May 2008 13:28

I'm an expert chocolate eater mmmmmmmhh!

Eldrick

Eldrick Report 19 May 2008 13:29

Yes, but they still deserve 'expert' status in my book. The alternative is 'Not Expert' which is not a comforting thought. Semantics maybe, but very true I think.

Do you challenge everything or just some things...?

Eeyore13

Eeyore13 Report 19 May 2008 13:34

Sometimes it depends on the circumstances-I try not to just do things to prove a point,bets/dares etc but genuine knowledge I'm happy to expand & I will bow to those with greater wisdom(eventually lol)

OH

OH Report 19 May 2008 13:34

I wan't deny them the title deserved, there is no doubt a lot of hard hours in the profession they choose to get to where they are.

Eldrick

Eldrick Report 19 May 2008 13:38

but you said quite distinctly 'I don't claim to be an expert, no one is.'

:-)

never mind. No problem.

Now - back to challenges. Is it good to challenge, do you think?

Eeyore13

Eeyore13 Report 19 May 2008 13:39

Even the mighty make mistakes, thats what makes us human & why we have logic & common sense (with an option to ignore both if required). :)

Eeyore13 Report 19 May 2008 13:40

Challenges keep you alive,if you don't try different things you don't have a life-just an existence?

OH

OH Report 19 May 2008 13:41

to challenge myself, yes I believe it is.

It is always good to 'learn' to enhance our lives with knowledge of the world around us .... I am a little 'stubborn' at times, OH always says if someone tells me I am not capable, then I have to prove them wrong ! pmsl

I really don't know what he means by that !

Ooops forgot ~~~~~~~~ to everyone :)

OH Report 19 May 2008 14:04

I was put to the test once, working in the local mines, in there they have their own way of doing things, the gov't law seems not to be allowed past the gates but plant operators inside and out all get their tickets from the smae gov't body, however, when I was told this and that should be like this and that, I disagreed and was challenged, since I am one to read about what I am involved with I had the correct answers, and they did not like it, I lost my job after that.

Eeyore13

Eeyore13 Report 19 May 2008 14:07

If I don't agree with something I'll challenge it.
If you don't you get walked on & I don't like that!
