Is it acceptable if the person disagrees with you or only if they agree with you?

Be honest. I've heard people say they respect straight talking then have gone on to be very rude to people who disagree with them. In the real world too as well as here........

Anyone honest enough to admit that they only admire those whose opinion matches theirs or can you put your hand on your heart and say you truly welcome diversity?

I like straight talking even if people disagree with me as long as they can substantiate their opinion as I would have done my own!

But I detest rudeness.... and sometimes there is a fine line between the two!

i was brought up to be seen and not heard, therefor for years i was scared to give my opinion , now i realise by having a, opinion that someone else disagrees with dos'nt mean that person will no longer be my friend, or i theres
but of course im always right anyway so nor a problem

Muffy

You know that on certain threads of mine (long since whooshed) if someone was rude I would make a special point of thanking them for their input. That usually stops them in their tracks.

I try really hard not to inflame a thread but I could if I tried, so I tend to shut up.

I hate the vitriol from the bullies but like hearing two sides of an argument.

Please don't anyone ask who the bullies are cos we all have different opinions :-((

Preferable to be a bit of a devil?
I go with "do as you would be done by".
So you can't vanish in a puff of smoke either then??Now that'd be a skill!

Thing is, if there is a debate going then I will give my opinion, straight but politely as possible. If some don't like it then what's the point of debate?

I think there are also times when a certain amount of tact and diplomacy is needed too, which now and then seems lacking.

All told, I'll hold back rather than upset someone so if you DO see me kick off, it's because I've taken and taken and finally decide to give some back. It' takes a lot to get me to do that though, and usually its in defence of my friends more than for myself.

What I can't stand is those who claim to be straight-talking but can't take it.

I have always said, if you can't take it, don't dish it out.

Hi Muffy
I'd rather have a friend who says Frankie you look awful going out like that than one who lets me go out looking awful lol
