Yes, I can't travel to meet people

and I suffer depression so sometimes this becomes a lifeline for me.

Unfortunately though it is soon to end and then I will have to deal with the depression on my own.

I have made some good friends here and hopefully will keep in touch with some of them once membership is gone.

Caz, yes it is important to me. I had a lot of support from people in the early part of the year, I have met some lovely people and I enjoy making cyber friends.
I'm adult enough to know that of course I could survive without it, and of course my family are more important. But, having moved around so much I don't have a large nucleus of friends where I live here, they are scattered all over so, my cyber friends make up for that loss.

I very much enjoy chatting on here - have made some good friends, have a laugh, a good place for advice of all sorts and I am particularly pleased with the depression/anxiety thread which for a lot of people is a lifeline and a great support, so much so that people who initially were asking for help and support are now able to give it - in my book that is success!! I note that there are now nearly 3,000 postings on that thread

many years ago i thought GR was important in my life altho obviously not as important as "real" life
however i found that after a while it wasnt of interest to me either for family tree reasons or to chat
i have come back as a paid member mainly to do my tree again but i cant get into it and altho i do look on the boards i dont find much of interest to be honest and my "real" life is whats important anyway rather than a cyber world
however i do use another website far more than here (nothing to do with geneology) and i enjoy that site a lot and have friends there both ones iv met and cyber ones
i guess its down to the mix of people that suits some and not others :-)
