from the best method of breeding top class horses
to why flies have no feathers on their wings, from
proffessors to archeologists to mere Civil servants

Doesn't really matter, though, does it.

Because all religions say something different about creation and to keep preaching one and not the other may well cause severe offence to someone, as all organised religion is capable of doing. Not forgetting that evolution takes money out of their coffers as well.

Occams razor again.....

whats more believable....a man with a white beard waving his arms around, or the theory of evolution.

Just a Passing Thought.Creation was assumed to start with the "Big Bang"but Who or what? Created the Components needed to create the Big Bang to enable "Creation" **M**.:o)>.

Perhaps it wasn't a big bang, maybe it was more of a small boooom?
I quite like the theory of evolving,it's better than being descended from a rib?

Eeeeerrr No Merlin I wasn't sniping-
Take what's happened in China is it more feasable that thousands of innocent people annoyed a God?
Or
Plates in the earth moved & caused a major disaster?

Merlin

Merlin Report 15 May 2008 14:58

Carla,The thought never entered my mind,It was just a bit of fun.:o)>. Re China,The Plates Moved as they frequently do,and cause disasters.I do admire the way in which the Chinese Government acted so Quickly, far better than the Burmese did,and probably better than our government did in the flooding.**M**.

Thanks-I just hate upsetting people, life's too short (& so am I)
Anyway your right that Govt seriously got their act together,I can't think of another country that has responded so efficiently in years.A lot should be learnt from this but I doubt the powers that be will take any notice. :)

A friend of mine was lucky he managed to 're-home' himself by Xmas, but it was more upsetting to him losing all his stuff.
Can't begin to imagine what it would be like to lose your kids.

Do you know..........the really sad thing about Creationists is that they are now having to add a revised form of evolution into their ideas simply because even the most extreme believer realises that you could never have fitted all those animals onto an ark?
They are now saying that microevolution must happen and that it was simply types of creature on the Ark. So for example just a couple of beetles which then developed into the millions we now see.
For those who'd like to read about the whole controversy here is an interesting link
http://www.talkorigins.org/origins/faqs-creationists.html

Why do so many scientists from very different science backgrounds agree?
Astronomy, biology, physics, geology, chemistry and archeology all find no problem with evolution.

When they let all those animals off the Ark what did the carnivores eat? If the Creationists are to be believed then there were very few individuals of any creature so you couldn't have all those lions, tigers, wolves etc going out and eating the only remaining examples of wilderbeasts before they had a chance to breed into a herd!

Sorry but it all gets too silly.

Going back to the birds Colin mentioned in the first bit of this thread.

One of my children is a Paleoanthropologist (ie Evolutionary Scientist) and I remember proof reading one of the essays she wrote for her Master's Degree which mentioned about a particular kind of seabird.

That one used as an example is one which has gradually spread around the world (I can't remember which one it is and she's at work so I can't ask her). Anyway as it has increased its range, it has subtly changed (bit like humans changing accents, colour of skin, hair etc.)

Each adjoining population of this seabird is able to mate with its neighbours but if you look at the two extremes of the range the two at either end are now so different in their calls, appearance, behaviour etc that if they were seen in isolation a biologist would see them as different species. They would not mate because they do not recognise each other as the same.
