No so long as the radio station is licenced it's down to them BUT if you decided to put a big speaker in the middle of a shopping centre then you too would have to have a licence |

It is illigal to listen to music in a puplic place.I think Im right in saying ,this law came out 2006. |

this is by no means a new law - you have to pay a licence fee to the Performing Rights Society in order to play music in a public place. I know of this because for years I worked for a tobacco company [Manikin Cigars] and we had a radio which played throughout the factory. You have to purchase a license to broadcast publicly - this was back in the mid fifties. |
