My grandparents ( both sides ) and grt grandparents born and bred in Windsor, Berkshire. My Aunt and Uncles and their families still live in the same district and streets. Expect for my parents and myself . I was born in Australia and the same for my sister. She met a Yorkshire man and moved to England - South Essex. |

You have raised a very interesting topic! I have been researching my own tree and my husband's. He is from London, and I am from Cumbria. Oddly enough, my research has shown that his gg grandparents and my gg grandparents were from the same area - Sunderland - and both gg grandfathers worked in the ship yards there. I know there are likely to be many similar tales, but I found this quite surprising! |

I've always lived in east London, and my parents and grandparents lived in the east end. Before that most of them were from Russia, so I'm a fair distance from my roots! |

My Dad's side were Buckinghamshire folk, mainly a little village called Gawcott just outside Buckingham and there are still some of them there. |

Yes weired isn't it how some places you go you feel at home. At 15 I worked in Warwickshire and on the train down we passed through Tamworth. I had never been there but I remember feeling drawn to the place. My mothers family all came from that area I found out 4 years ago. Went to work in Lincolnshire found that my great great grand father came from near where I worked and agaIn felt at home. Always loved the sound of the forest of dean, my fathers family came from Gloucestershire and the close area around. Married and came to live here found that my fathers mothers family had lived here back to 1600s. Think we have still got our homing instincts. Elaine. |
