Susan719813 Report 11 Mar 2008 14:52

'Twas on a Monday morning the gas man came to call.
The gas tap wouldn't turn - I wasn't getting gas at all.
He tore out all the skirting boards to try and find the main
And I had to call a carpenter to put them back again.

Oh, it all makes work for the working man to do.

'Twas on a Tuesday morning the carpenter came round.
He hammered and he chiselled and he said:
"Look what I've found: your joists are full of dry rot
But I'll put them all to rights".
Then he nailed right through a cable and out went all the lights!

Oh, it all makes work for the working man to do.

'Twas on a Wednesday morning the electrician came.
He called me Mr. Sanderson, which isn't quite the name.
He couldn't reach the fuse box without standing on the bin
And his foot went through a window so I called the glazier in.

Oh, it all makes work for the working man to do.

'Twas on a Thursday morning the glazier came round
With his blow torch and his putty and his merry glazier's song.
He put another pane in - it took no time at all
But I had to get a painter in to come and paint the wall.

Oh, it all makes work for the working man to do.

'Twas on a Friday morning the painter made a start.
With undercoats and overcoats he painted every part:
Every nook and every cranny - but I found when he was gone
He'd painted over the gas tap and I couldn't turn it on!

Oh, it all makes work for the working man to do.

On Saturday and Sunday they do no work at all;
So 'twas on a Monday morning that the gasman came to call...

lol Ann....tis in the stars, if my luck with workmen so far is anything to go by.......The above actually happened to me years ago.....the brickie couldn't do the carpenters job so had to call one in....he made a hole in the gas pipe and had to call the gas man in.....he couldn't touch the woodwork so in came the carpenter again.....who 'accidently' cut through electric wiring and so on......that was the last time we had workmen in......so am prepared for the next episode lol ......what put me in mind of the song was that I have to deal with all the above peeps next week :-))))))))

don't mention roofs Liz......today they found a meeces nest in the loft while taking out the lagging.......and threw the poor little things in the skip Tsk!

Daff, thanks for the GA, she is already at work!
I just got a call from some company I had filled in an online survery for, trying to get a holiday in NZ. She has said I have won a holiday for 4 in Spain or somewhere similar, can't recall where, all flights and acc. paid for, we have to pay £29.50 pp booking fee. I have a freephone number to call and will take about 2 mins, then they will send the letter out with all the details and I can take the hol any time in the next 18 months. Told her I didn't believe it was for real, are we expected to buy something, like timeshare, she says no obligation or anything, hol to do with as I please!
So will make the call in a mo and see what's what! Me and my competitions, eh?
Won't tell K yet till I see what the catches are, can't believe a hol for £30 each! Probably have to agree to eat at the hotel or whatever, and really expensive grub!

Susan, get Stuart Little's brothers and sisters out of that skip, poor little things, lol (says she who can't stand meeces around)

hmmph Daff!...corse yer old enough!

Hmmm! you sure Liz?.....think of how many £29-50ps they can make from all those they say have won a holiday.....not trying to put the dampers on nor nuffink!......but seeing will be believing!

Twasn't Stuart Little anyways Liz......I'm sure it wasn't......was another meecy, shirley!

Liz, you do know that if it sounds too good to be true...it usually is!

And haven't I heard that if you dial a free phone number pressing some of the call steering buttons can divert you to a premium rate line? *curious*

Try googling the telephone number or company name first.

MrDaff

MrDaff Report 11 Mar 2008 16:56

Didn't think there was a meecie called shirley, Susan

*wracks brain trying to think*

*sticks tongue out.....* well, ok, I sort of remember them, but get them a bit muddled with some others... did one always wear a fur coat? (I really am serious at this... I know the tune from Sunday radio, but am not sure what they looked like, lol)
