No Daff!...that was flanagan and Allen......which reminds me.......

Time for a song :-)))))))))

Underneath the Arches
I dream my dreams away.
Underneath the arches,
On cobblestones I lay.
Ev'ry night you'll find me,
Tired out and worn.
Happy when the daylight comes creeping,
Heralding the dawn.

Sleeping when it's raining,
And sleeping when it's fine,
I hear the trains rattling by above.
Pavement is my pillow,
No matter where I stray.
Underneath the Arches
I dream my dreams away.

here is part of the sequel to " Underneath the arches"...

They're building flats where the Arches used to be
There's somebody eating where we used to be sleeping
They're paying rents where we once lived rent free
And there's no one to say here's the dawn of another day

Side by side we looked with pride at our old abode
Now we're wondering if we'll have to take that open road
We're walking round now as sad as can be
They're building flats where the Arches used to be.

hmmm! Bob.....yerv just ruined me reminiscing.....tsk.......anyway......I tried to sing it and it doesn't fit into the tune......+......why is it only part of it?......ooooo......I feel another song coming on.......that reminds me of years ago when they changed things and sang.....

.They changed our local Palais into a bowling alley and
Things ain't what they used to be (chorus)

There's Teds in drainpipe trousers and Debs in coffee houses and
Things ain't what they used to be (chorus)

There used to be Trams not very quick
Gotcha from place to place

But now there's just jams half a mile thick
I'm walking

They stuck parking meters outside our doors to greet us
Things ain't what they used to be (chorus)

Corr monkeys flying round the moon
We'll be up there with em soon
Things ain't what they used to be (chorus)

Once our beer was frothy but now its frothy coffee well
Things ain't what they used to be (chorus)

It used to be fun Dad an old Mum paddling down old Southend
But now it ain't done
Never mind chum
Paris is now where we spend our outings

Grandma used to try an shock us all
Doing a knees up the Parker Noll
Things ain't what they used to be (chorus)

We used to have stars
Singers who sung
A Dixie melody

There buying Guitars plinkty plonk
Backing their selves with three chords only

Ones we'd dance from 12 to 3
I've got news for Elvis P

Things ain't what they used taa
There's a lot we used taa
Things ain't what they used taa beeeee

I got directly through to a young woman, the 'catch; is that we have to go to London but they will pay for an hotel for the night, a two course meal and bottle of wine and continental breakfast, if we just go to a 2 hr presentation about all their holidays and timeshare etc.
She said 'Have a think and call me back when you want' - the London thing is every Friday./Saturday which would be a pain as o.h. likes to work all day Saturday as time and a half! Did mention it this evening but didn't really discuss it so will see later this week. Could maybe go on the train for a change instead of drive and then spend the rest of the day in London, we haven't been for a long time and he keeps saying we should get out more!!!

Here's a song for you all....

Side By Side

Well we ain't got a barrel of money...
We may look ragged and funny...
But we're travelin' on...
Singing our song...
Side by side.

Through all kinds of weather...
What if the sky should fall?
As long as we're together,
It doesn't matter at all.
So we ain't got a barrel of money...
We may look ragged and funny...
But we're travelin' on...
Singing our song...
Side by side.

Through all kinds of weather...
Drought, flood, rain and snow,
We will be together...
So it just don't matter at all...

Oh we ain't got a barrel of money...
We may look ragged and funny...
But we're travelin' on...
Singing our song...
Side by side.

Don't know what's comin' tomorrow...
maybe it's trouble and sorrow...
but we'll travel the road...
sharin' our load...
side by side.

Oh we ain't got a barrel of money...
We may look ragged and funny...
But we're travelin' on...
Singing our song...
Side by side.

When they've all had their quarrels and parted...
we'll be the same as we started...
just travlin' along singin' a song...
side by side.

I think this song describes the way we are for each other on here, can you just imagine us all trooping along singing lol

Here's another... learned this in infant school.
Happy Wanderer

I love to go a-wandering
along the mountain track,
And as I go,
I love to sing
My knapsack on my back.

Chorus

Valdaree, valdarah, valdaree,
Valdarah-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha
Valdaree, valdarah
My knapsack on my back.

I love to wander by the stream
that dances in the sun
so joyously
it calls to me

"Come join my happy song."
I tip my hat to all I meet,
and they wave back to me

The blackbird call
so load and sweet
from every greenwood tree.

High overhead the Skylark wings.
He never stays at home.
And just like me,
he loves to sing
as over the world he roams.

Oh may I go a-wandering
until the day I die.
Oh may I always
laugh and sing
beneath God's clear blue sky.

Chorus

Shenandoah

Oh Shenandoah, I long to see you,

Far away you rolling river,

Oh Shenandoah, I long to see you,

Away, we're bound away across the wide Missouri.

I long to see your smiling valley, . . .

'Tis seven long years since last I saw thee, . . .

When first I took a rambling notion, . . . To sail across the

briny ocean.

Here's one for you Susan

Oh! Susanna

I come from Alabama with my banjo on my knee,
I'm going to Louisiana, my true love for to see.
It rained all night the day I left, the weather it was dry
The sun so hot I froze to death, Susanna, don't you cry.

Chorus

Oh! Susanna, Oh don't you cry for me,
For I come from Alabama with my banjo on my knee.

I had a dream the other night, when everything was still;
I thought I saw Susanna dear, a coming down the hill.
A buckwheat cake was in her mouth, a tear was in her eye,
Says I, I'm coming from the south, Susanna, don't you cry.
I soon will be in New Orleans, and then I'll look around,
And when I find Susanna, I'll fall upon the ground.
But if I do not find her, then I will surely die,
And when I'm dead and buried, Oh, Susanna, don't you cry.
