Have asked Sandra to let helpers know if the info is for the right man. She obviously doesn’t think it necessary :-| :-|

Hi sorry everyone I forgot it half term for my granddaughter so I not had a chance to read everything. I will do that at the weekend when my family gone home . Thank you everyone xx

ErikaH

ErikaH Report 25 Feb 2026 18:35

West Mersea is Essex

That’s the death record I accessed and posted earlier. Didn’t have time to study it as carefully as I would have liked.
Thanks for the additional info and it certainly looks as thought the November date is simply that of his interment
The half-sister who had his effects almost certainly had a child with her first husband…….one who could be living.

Perhaps Sandra will come back at some stage and follow-through on the info found for her…..and let us know if we’ve identified the right man!!

ArgyllGran Report 25 Feb 2026 17:42

The death record says,
"Disposition of the remains: To be shipped to West Mersea, England, by train."

Perhaps his ashes are interred in Lincolnshire.

Thomas Elliott Allan
in the UK and Ireland, Find a Grave® Index, 1300s-Current
Name Thomas Elliott Allan
Birth Date 1917
Death Date 17 Nov 1965
Cemetery Boston Cemetery and Crematorium
Burial or Cremation Place Boston, Boston Borough, Lincolnshire, England

A note added to the Findagrave record:

"Gravesite Details
Age: 48, Consecrated: Yes, Death date listed may be the interment date"

ADDED:
He is not recorded in the Boston Cemetery/Crematorium online Book of Remembrance - which of course is voluntary for his family.

ErikaH

ErikaH Report 25 Feb 2026 16:57

The only possibility is that his body was repatriated to UK and it’s a burial record, although as he was an American citizen it would seem unlikely.
The death record refers only to the disposal of his effects as far as I recall. No access to Ancestry on the device i’m currently using.

PM sent to Sandra asking her to return…..opened. NO reaction as yet

OP should have been able to confirm his death and other info by looking at the CWGC site

I can't see his death on CWGC, which is very strange

Did he die whilst in the Army?

I was referring to sites like Ancestry, FindMyPast familysearch and freebmd……….even this one, which has censuses

You will need to provide more detail if anyone is to have a hope of helping you…..sorry.
