'Words' are my insanity.

And to aid my endeavour, I have just received a present of a: 'Dictionary of Changes in Meaning' by Adrian Room highlighting the fact that English is an ever-changing language where, over the centuries, very many words have acquired a new sense or gained an unexpectedly different meaning.

Powerful & entertaining stuff! :-D

I love words too Dermot, though I am a lazy writer and use words like nice (there's a word whose meaning has changed) to describe almost anything pleasant. My English teacher, still around in her mid-90s, would be horrified.

Have you read Bill Bryson's "Mother Tongue"? If not try and borrow a copy as I am sure you would enjoy it.

Photography is good for everybody.
You learn something new.
You get out & about.
You meet new friends with the same interest as you.
Still Life, Landscape, Street, Black & White or Portrait & more are all different types of photography.
You can learn as you go & the people you meet will also teach/help you.
You may even end up with some letters after your name.

I really enjoy photography too and am having a new camera for Christmas! I agree with what you say, Black Knight and it also makes you much more observant of your surroundings and notice detail.

Training our working Cocker in readiness for the start of the shooting season! She always needs a refresher course this time of year! Nothing like a well trained dog, they're always welcome in any doggy home! Untrained ones are definitely not! ;-)

Hi All..
l have been making felt poppies, l belong to a local Knit and Natter group and we made hundreds for Rememberance Day. Villgae pub displayed them out the front of pub and loads in the yard where outside tables are....they looked brilliant. Most were Red and some were Purple for the animals. Since then l have made yellow and white poppy shaped felt flowers and have some in a vase in front window! Will try and add piccies..
:-)
