	My uncle Bill (Scottish) was called Spud by his wife (English). What does it mean? I've just bought my seed potatoes. Wouldn't like to think I was burying you. You'll get a right sharp prick up the jacksie with my pitchfork in a few months when I dig you up! Aileen xxx

	Never heard of Spud other than my uncle being called it. Has to come during WW2 as he is the only one who settled in England after the war, and has to be an English expression. Meaning what? He wasn't a farmer by any shape or form. He was a sergeant major! Aileen xxx

	I'm a flipping Thomson. One without the "p". So I am related to a long ling of humans and the "relatives" ones with the P are related to vegetables. Sounds about right. Aileen xxx
