This is Errol now - you can buy them from loads of places. One place (if you really get into it because they have loads of stuff) is:
http://www.cornishcrispa.com/

Hattie got her's from The Natural World if you have a branch nearby - they are a fabulous thing from an educational point of view. It was her decision to buy them and in fairness she has not lost interest. On the contrary she has been so excited when I pick her up from school to see how they have got on - they double in size every day.

Thank you Hattie I enjoyed your blog very much.
I was always interested in nature when I was your age and I had all sorts of creatures and wildlife.

I had never heard of Triops before now, well you're never too old to learn something new!!
Hope 'the family' are getting bigger and bigger!

Hattie I think your blog is very informative- you must be very good at looking after them, we had sea-monkeys once but our cat daisy drank them!
Thank you for sharing them with us,

I am absolutely amazed that so many people have taken an interest and even more amazed at your very kind messages to Hattie - she has gone to bed with a massive smile on her face and her last words were "daddy can we have a look tomorrow to see if anyone else is interested because they are learning something and it is good"

Hattie thanks for your blog it was really interesting finding out about your triops. I have never heard of them before and I wondered whether you could answer my query Why do they lose their shells?? Shells always seem to be protection - what do you think?

Many thanks again

Kaz

This is really interesting, Hattie, and I have learned something new, even at 60, an oap lol
I thought it was funny when you said you had fed your little creatures your Dad's dinner as when ever I go on line he is eating! We have had jokes about it late at night, cos he always makes me feel hungry when he tells us what he is eating, mostly on Saturday nights late? Then I have to go and get something because he has made me feel I want to eat, and I get fatter and fatter! It is all his fault!

You are doing a great job caring for your little triops and I will keep watching to see what happens. Is there a lid on the tank, only I have a young friend of 7 who might like these for a gift when it is his birthday in March. The trouble is, he has cats!
His Mum took in two black ones that had been dumped and they had 8 kittens between them, seven have homes but they kept one so have three black cats and I wouldn't want to see the cats go fishing.

Keep up the good work, your Mum and Dad have every reason to be proud of you, writing the blog and answering us on here. I bet Dad tells you we are all barmy!

Hi this is Hattie.
They don't lose their shells. They shed them like a snake sheds its skin because they are getting too big for it.
Yes Liz there is a lid in the kit that I bought.
But the family is not getting bigger and bigger it is getting smaller and smaller as you will see if you look at my blog today.

Sadly not, Claire. I think they may have contracted a disease. But we will try again tomorrow and Hattie will continue to update her blog every day.
