Find a Delia Smith recipe and follow instructions carefully.

Remove from oven and show them off proudly..................dropping a few in the process.

Take the rest off the tray and place on rack to cool......wondering why the pastry is breaking.

When cold pick one up to taste and the rest of the pastry crumbles away to nothing:((

Finally..................buy some frozen pastry and try again!

LOL Well, I do like flaky pastry.

Reminds me of the time my older brother and I made scones (I was about 13) as a surprise for mum. They turned out like rock cakes....ok...actually they were just rocks! lol

I'm making some tomorrow - the pastry's in the fridge thawing out.

I remember making some in a food technology lesson last think on a Friday at school. Of course there were too many of us and not enough ovens so I just shoved them in. They were cooked on the outside but not on the inside and I thought they tasted horrendous but my dad still ate them.

But I will be making nice ones tomorrow. I hope. As long as the pastry doesn't stick to the work top.
