I often wonder how much Oxfam spend on advertising and circulations, and how much gets down to ground level.

I give them a fixed sum every month and they are forever writing to me asking for more for this or that.

Happy days

I can't understand why people put up with these ads. There have been dozens of threads about this in the past, and the solution's simple: stop using Internet Explorer and download Firefox with the ad blocker and flash blocker extensions, or Opera.

If even that seems too difficult , try using the .com site of Genes, which has fewer ads than the .co.uk site.

Why do people moan so much about the advertisements anyway? In the great scheme of things does it really matter? For heaven's sake!

I think it does matter, Errol, because apart from the fact that the really intrusive ones prevent you from using the site properly, people are unwittingly influenced by them.

You might think you're not, but when you come to buy a product, there's a strong chance that you'll buy a brand you've heard of, and you hear of them mostly through advertising.

Mary, I think we all know the power of advertising. But this thread was started in fun, so lets keep it that way please.
