I take the opposite view. Tony Blair did his best as prime minister. He may have been wrong - history will judge that.
Churchill; Anthony Eden; and multitudes of other leaders have made war mistakes in their time.

If Tony believes in something, then I for one say 'good luck to him'.

I was watching a programme and Ann Widdecombe was talking about her faith and how she converted to Catholicism, and said that Tony Blair was going to as well......and so he has....

I wonder when he looks at his sons, if he thinks of the young men who have died as a result of actions he has taken.....

The only reasons he has done this is,(1) to get absolved at Confession for all his Sins.(2) he,s not so sure he will be President of the "So Called" United states of Europe. So(3) he,s "Hedging His Bets", and trying to make his bid to "Become Pope". **M**.

Surprise surprise, he made such a hooha of saying he was not RC when he became PM and was seen attending anglican churches. He should have been honest but then perhaps he felt that the country would not accept a RC PM. For some years now he has been attending chapel,. I do not care - I have always felt that a person's faith is like sex - both are a private and personal issue.

Blair does not know how to be honest over anything and never did.

Once again just a few words in favour of tony blair - and I do not vote for his party.

I see the argument of blood on his hands - nowhere on this topic do I see the lives he has saved in sorting out the Irish problem.

Methinks he was a good man trying to do his best.

I see your point but I think The Peace process In Ireland was something that was on the cards for a while,it needed a push thats all and it just so happened that Blair was In power,Only my opinion:-)

Tony Blair will go down In history as the puppet of George Bush.

I wonder why he left it this long to convert? I always thought he was R.C anyway!

He sorted out the Irish problem where so many others had failed.

We are talking about blood on his hands - does anyone really want the killings and bombings to go back to pre TB's work.

If TB wants to become a catholic then that is his business. It should have been kept private, and I am just sorry that it had to make the news.

As far as his legacy is concerned, I have just read this on the BBC Have Your Say page - It was in connection with the issue over deporting foreign criminals, but I thought it summed up the mess that TB has left behind him.

"It is common sense to deport foreign criminals, but New Labour and common sense are antonyms.
However even if they ever managed to use any common sense, they would still lack the backbone to put it into action.

We have been led for 10 years by a gang of self serving wasters, and we are going to have to pay for their pensions as well as having paid their salaries. DISGUSTING!"

I have to agree that there are cases where the animals are ill treated in Madeira as is in the Ascorian island and also on the mainland but there are new laws that have come out to protect them...

Should I ever come across such a case you can be damn sure that I shall call the GNR and if they do not react there is a TV station that is so very willing to take up the course...and would not think twice...

I don't see how the Church attended by any individual should have anything at all to do with his working life and political beliefs. As we are supposed to be such a multi racial country this would include religion so does it matter what he has been or becomes?

As for blood on his hands, Margaret Thatcher was unpopular but became popular when she sent troops to The Falklands. Why should it be different for her?

And I do have relatives and friends in Iraq fighting and my husband could have gone to The Falklands had the call up papers actually have been distributed.

Now that the dust has settled a little, it's worth reflecting on Tony Blair's conversion to Catholicism. After all, here is a man who oversaw a government whose policies could hardly be described as 'Catholic'.

The ten years of his reign saw the introduction of some resolutely anti-life measures. Mr Balair has a poor voting record on abortion. In fact, he could be described as one of the world's most significant architects of the culture of death, promoting abortion, experimentation on unborn embryos - including cloned embryos - & euthanasia by neglect.

How about his involvement in the probable closure of Catholic adoption agencies; the total undermining of traditional marriage and, of course, the series of wars to which he committed our troops - despite the late Pope's urgings against the invasion of Iraq?

All this is hardly a great CV for reception into the Catholic Church.

But can he afford to pay for the peerage? Rumour has it that he has a massive overdraft and mortgage with negative equity, all thanks to his dear wife who had ambitions of becoming the first lady of the president of England.
