Mommylonglegs Report 13 Dec 2007 07:15

I am going out on my own this morning for the first time in around two months, so it is going to be an ordeal.
Hubby is dropping me off in town, where I shall be prezzie shopping for around 4 hours, then will have to make my own way back home.

I am looking forward to it, but dreading it at the same time.
I shall get so claustrophobic in the shopping centre's and will get lost in many shops. One of the worst being, coming out of a store and not knowing which way to turn, left or right. I will probably double back on myself many times. Lol.

Hey thats great news :) Dont forget if you panic just find a quite place to sit down and take deep breaths.

I have taken the day off to take MIL Christmas shopping today. I know the day will be full of plenty of sit downs and coffee's (sit downs for her benifiet coffee for mine).

Next time see if you can get someone to go with you. You may find it helpful to have someone to sit down with.

I know MIL wouldnt go to the big shopping park we are going to on her own so I always try and take her in the summer and winter.

Well Done you anyway. Dont expect a miracle on your first day out - but tell yourself it will be easier next time - you have made a remarkable step :)

Go for it Jenny,

Treat yourself to something nice, then picture yourself wearing it on Christmas day.

You might even meet up with me who has the same problem x..

I have to go to hospital for a scan tomorrow and my daughter who normally takes me has a business meeting in London................. maybe I will find a good looking hospital porter who will hold my hand lol.

When I got panicky I used to think of something really nice and that worked for me. I think they call it imagery in psychology terms.

The more you go out the easier it gets. Take small steps. Don't do too much in one go. Then one day you'll go out without a second thought.

Good luck
Have a great day

I'm back, just got in made a cuppa and sat down.

Not bad going, Hubby dropped me off in Newcastle at 9.30am. 4 hours shopping £200 lighter and back home at 2.30pm. I was just fine, didnt even stop for a cuppa, just 1 ciggie outside Fenwicks Windows, which is absolutley gorgeous this year.

Thanks for all your message of support, your a great bunch of folks.
