Jean Durant Report 19 Nov 2007 17:19

Just wanted to share this.

I have a ‘big’ birthday looming and as a surprise Maz (in the East End): Lynda Pace and David Owen arranged for Afternoon Tea at The Ritz.

I had no idea this had been planned, thought Maz and I were just out for a bit of retail therapy and a stroll round Fortnum and Masons.

To say I was overcome is to understate it.

I had never been in the Ritz and had often wondered what it would be like. It is absolutely fabulous and everything I thought it would be and more.

The pianonist played Happy Birthday and I was presented with a birthday cake.

As we left The Ritz (just have to keep saying it lol) there was the most magnificent rainbow in the sky.

All in all a day to remember for ever thanks to the thoughtfulness and kindness of my very special friends.

Jean x.

Jean, I am so pleased. That is typical of all three of them to do something so thoughtful and caring.

You and they are some of the nicest people I know, and I miss them so much on here.

Oh I miss them on here too but they are all well
and such wonderful company.

Joy... we had sandwiches with various fillings, smoked salmon, tuna, ham etc. beautifully presented, scones with strawberry conserve
and clotted cream, fresh cream pastries and tea/coffee served in silver pots. The service was excellent and all the time the pianonist plays in the background.

The whole ambience is of a time much gentler
than the one we live in today.

Wow!! What a lovely surprise and what beautiful friends to have.

I miss Lynda and David on here, but great to know they still keep in touch with their old friends.

Hope your 'actual' birthday is equally as memorable.
