HarleyBaloo is shaking like a leaf, bless him....trying to get under my chair, which is a bit difficult as he is a Great Dane. I have all the windows & doors shut, but they are sooo loud...made me jump a few times.

Muppet my cat isn't too bad tonight, there are a few going off out there but the main display is tonight a couple of miles away.

Monday night worries me most,

There's a public display the other side of the town tonight - so why is evry plank & his wife setting them off in their gardens?
I live on a hill on a corner, so have 4 gardens at the back that back on to mine, and those lower down the hill that are setting them off - they fireworks are flying up - and exploding right outside my windows!!
Then there are the houses opposite - I'm surrounded.
Poor cats are hiding - somewhere. I have radios on in every room to try and stifle the sound.

Hi TW :):)

It makes you wonder what tomorrow and Monday will bring. Our dog was ok until last year when we lost Amber the older dog, they used to be comfort and stand together Sally now seems very unsettled. Looks like I will be out to get some dog calms tomorrow.

He is a proper scooby-doo a the best of times, this is just a nightmare...he is now sitting on my lap, lol. May have to think about building a soundproof bunker. Wouldn't be too bad if I thought that it will be over in a couple of hours, but it is probably going to be all week. They need to make it a law that it is only allowed on Nov 5th....I'm laughing but it's just not fair...poor poppets.

Hi Maggie :):)

I live on the rich side of town here, although im poor myself unfortunately. The money round here just seems to buy more and more bigger fireworks as they out do each other.

Hi Amanda :):)

We really do have to feel sorry for the pets at this time of the year. It must seem very strange for them that so many strange noises appear out of the blue.

TJ :):):) I have visions now of Scooby Doo :):):)

Colin...it seems that that even the poor people spend their Giro's on the biggest, best fireworks....

I live a couple of miles away from Drayton Manor Theme Park in Staffordsdhire who are having one heck of a display tonight. we also have displays at the local football club, cruising club as well as oodles of indibvidual displays all trying to out 'bang' each other - the poor dog is doing her nut. I think we are in for a repeat tomorrow as well - can I give the dog brandy??

My Jack Russell is half demented here...barking and barking and in a terrible state.....so are WE!

If it was one night only - November 5th, we could perhaps tranquillize him, but you can't knock an animal out for a fortnight or longer can you!

I do have a couple of valium here...2mg...left over from a prescription for me...anyone know if its safe to give to a dog....and how much to give?

They have been going off for a couple weeks here in cambs!and as you all say its the animals who suffer the most! our three year old border collie doesnt seem to be bothered one iota possibly as she was born on a farm and was used to gun shots going off all the time.we used to have to put our old dog in the closet under the stairs and put classical tapes on full blast .that seemed to calm her. T.J. Report 3 Nov 2007 19:31

Amanda's right....So if you take the brandy & valium, it will help you keep calm. Probably best not to take both together, lol.

T.J. I reckon you are right there to.

Amanda :):) Sorry I cannot help but smile at the dog blowing off
under the desk. mine has a habit of that on normal days :)

Hi Colin :):)

You certainly sound as you are getting the big fireworks
from all directions. Im afraid I am unable to help re the brandy.
If all else fails, have one yourself though :)

Christine :):) Your mad lol

Hi Dee :):)

Sorry to hear about your Jack Russell. Not sure about the valium
We used a thing that we bought from the vet one year.
Trouble is even that can take days to work.
Sally our dog just seems to be getting more and more frantic.
There seems to be something different about this year
Fireworks have definitely got louder.
