Christine that is exactly how My sister and I thought of sprouts when we were little...... baby cabbages!!

We don't wait for Christmas to eat them, I would eat them all year round.

After steaming and cooking them to a
nice soft ,( but not soggy) toss them in butter with a few sesame seeds.... beautiful.

We have more recipes..... on the same theme, use instead, chopped veg of your choice....
onions, chives, dried tomatoes.... anything you like with a nice strong taste.

You can dry your own tomatoes in the oven... slice, slightly oil with olive oil, salt lightly, and dry slowly... when cold put them in a jar with olive oil. they will not last as long as the bought ones will, but they don't have to...... you will eat them quickly!!

I love Sprouts

I do a summer recipe with them I cook them with florets of cauliflower and broccolli and let them go cold then add Salad Cream or mayonaisse to them. Makes a great summer salad. Different from the normal salads for a change. Don't over cook them for this though have them with a bit of crunch to them.

They are also great with a butter lemon sauce on them, hot of course.

Said one sprout to another
We should go undercover
Before we get eaten alive
For the human race
Are a complete disgrace
in their quest for their daily 5.

They must be sad
Or completely mad
To want us served on a plate
They would be better with broccoli
Or good old chicory
For eating us, is really bad taste.

We don’t make it easy
They should feel rather queasy
with our ghastly sulphur pong
So why would they choose us
Is truly beyond us
We must be doing something wrong.

We look like a cabbage
Fit for the garbage
And cause them to belch and to groan
Let’s save them the tussle
And push off to Brussels
Then at least we’ll feel, right at home.
