This is all so difficult really isnt it...

I was called a "Witch" a short while back because i was seen to be saying harsh words to someone, But, as with alot of arguments on here, what that person didnt see what the beginning of that particular trouble where the person i was typing to had , with another member torn apart a lady whom i knew personally and had done nothing wrong to warrant the attack.
I was called a name because someone had come in the middle of the argument and looking at it face value and perhaps blinkered had rushed to shout me down.
This is at the heart of so many problems on here, people perhaps have not been at the start of a problem or argument and do not know the full story.
Its very dificult to be able to make a reasoned and rational judgement of a situation when not in full facts of both sides of the problem in the first place,.

Now, i do understanf fully that, when we see a friend " attacked" on the site it is only natural we would jump to their defence, of course this is perfectly normal and what friends would do.
But sometimes, we do this so blindly we really do not see the real problem, just that "other" person who is arguing with our freind and that they HAVE to be in the wrong.
None of us are perfect, all of us make mistakes, i know i have in judging people sometimes, Its taking the time to find out the full story, think about the problem and make a rational decision on whether and how to get involved we all fall foul of here on GR.

Its in our human nature to let our tempers get the betterof us sometimes isnt it, but what me MUST get used to is the fact that unlike an argument face to face, where we let our mouths run away with us, before our brains are even in gear... on the internet we have the bonus of having to THINK what we type... and then relay that into written word... this takes longer that talking.. and time enough for us to think twice about what we write..

We can all get our point across without resorting to bad language, and personal attack surely?

Ah bc I can assure you a couple have honest but hey got broard shoulders and like I said I posted to back up Lou that they existed nothing else , hope your keeping well dear;;;

don't see why GR have got that facility to be honest only causes trouble. To be hoest don't think I could be bothered to go through the effort of trawling through history boards looking at evil.

Hi all, not adding or taking from here - but do agree with what someone has already said, GR need to put moderators on the boards, as there is with most chat sites. Hope you are all having a good day xx

sadly we have been begging for moderators for a couple of years now.
After the terrible upset last year when the boards were closed down, i did think GR might see sense, alas no..

It does make me cross sometimes though.. i know of no other chat boards that go unmoderated like this one does, even the other geneology site i am a member on has excellent moderators, and this site is not a compulsary pay site, they only ask for a donation if you can afford it.
Unlike the now £ 9.95 per 6 months we have to pay on here ( for new members).

I know what you mean Em, any other site I am on has moderators, but I only pay that for a year on here, still worth the money tho xx

It's perfectly possible to say what you think without resorting to personal attacks and temper tantrums on the boards - there have been far too many of them.

I have neither sent nor received a nasty pm but I think most people who know me are aware of my feelings on a range of issues.

I can find no reason nor excuse for any of the secret and nasty postings on the History boards either those recently posted or those that are older.

I would hope that is something all of us can agree on.

I agree with bits of Lou's and With Em about protecting your mates. If TW or any other off my friends got banned I would be gutted. There again I wouldn't take it out on people who was not involved either.

With regards one post on history. I was horrified I really so nasty and uncalled for.
