Where was David Tennant? Did I miss him? Damn.

I think that watching programmes coming from different regions of the country has put the kybosh on the way people in the south think about our cousins in the north....

I like watching Homes under the Hammer....and the ones where people move from south the north.....and you are right.....they make the assumption that they can sell their London based homes for 300,00+ and buy an estate anywhere north of Watford for a pittance.....you can see from these programmes what vibrant places the northern cities are.....we are all just the same......have the same aims and wants, and I can say that my friends who have moved further north and south of London and the home counties have never regretted it.....I for one do not feel that I am any better than anyone from another part of the country......on the contrary, I think we lose out on the quality of life here.....

We have quite a few southerners moving up to Co Durham, all over the north really, citing the fact that they can actually afford to live up here, they can buy a family home which is something many people wouldn't be able to in London and round about anymore.

Christine, you've reminded me of the number of times I've missed the connecting bus to my sister's in Midhurst when the bus from Winchester to Petersfield has been stopped for 5 minutes at Cheriton - waiting for ducks!!

Has anyone ever gone to London and travelled on the tube....talk about pack-rats...

I sometimes go up town as it is only 20 minutes for me by train to Euston - but it takes 40 minutes in rush hour to get to the Station....lol....and when I go on the underground....being a friendly sort of cove, I smile at people.....wrong.....they think you are a loony and hide behind a paper.....and if you are polite they are shocked....if you stand up and give someone a seat they look as though you are mad....it is a shame ...

I am having a laugh, but you get my drift....it seems busy where I live, but in London the commuters seem strained and no time for the smiles....whereas here I can go out and have a chat with someone I have not met before, without feeling that I am some sort of loony....

Sally, my friend in London (not the one mentioned above lol) used to travel by tube to work and always stood at the back as she doesn't especially like closed in spaces, but when she witnessed a man pushed under a tube she stopped going on it at all!

How about the England/Wales Divide?

Born and bred in Liverpool. Loved it. Moved to a small walled town in Wales in 1995. Ran a pub (disaster in more ways thanh one !!), moved back to Formby in 2002. Daughter hated it, thought of herself as Welsh, was less than a year old when we moved there.. Couldnt't understand why the buildings were so big and had so many windows, also thought the rain smelled funny(?!!),

To cut a long story short, moved back to the same walled town in Wales (right opposite our old pub!) in May this year. Best thing we ever did. Pace of life is much slower even when the holiday makers are about. Can always do it tomorrow, or even the day after.

Daughter is like a pig in S**t if you pardon the expression.lol

umm...live in Wales, but have to say that where I am is not 'one thing or another' too populated to be really country, not enough facilities to be convenient in terms of shops, access , etc.

IT has changed in the years I have been here, now not so friendly or 'safe', though strangely it is now somehow more 'insular' and nosey than when it was a smaller place............if you do anything different to everyone else it is gossiped about and 'disected' to the nth degree.

I love the hustle & bustle of London, I couldnt live anywhere else, even on the out skirts of London where some of my friends live is too quiet for my liking... :o)

To a certain extent I would have to agree, everything here has to be done yesterday, theres no 'it will done today'
Most pubs & clubs up there better then down here and cheaper too.

Just seen this....
I am from the South and O.H. is from the North-East~which is where we live now.
Where we live we have the best of both worlds ~10mins one way and we on the moors and 10 mins the other way and we are at the sea ~didn`t have that when i was in the south.

Agree with you ---I live in North East and it's so close to both sea and countryside and we are a friendly county in Durham.
Also up to date with things!!!!
There is life if you want it despite what some people may think.
Like to visit London but wouldn't like to live there!!

im a north/south person.....i was born down south & live up home in the north.wouldnt live anywhere else.

I would go North any day, NE anyway

I know the roads up there better than where I live in the SE!

I live in the east but have and do, spend a lot of time at both ends of the country,, The North is way and by far the better place to be,,,people are a lot friendlier than down South,,even total strangers are friendly, I hate London,,its dirty,,the people are unfriendly and the pace of life is way too fast for me,

i was born in co. durham....one of the colliery villages right on the coast....never lived any where else....my mother came up here from southampton in the mid 40s.....she always said it was more friendly up here

I live on the south coast.............sea to the south downs to the north......absolutely beautiful and friendly too.

We southerners don't all live and work in London, neither are we all rich, we struggle finincially as everythung is expensive here, but we're happy.
