In Morrisons today (apart from advent calendars and selection boxes grrrrr) they had toddler's DVD games ... Pingu, Bob, Enjy, Dora, Tweenies etc ... for £2 each. I bought 6 - 1 for each of ex's cousins' tiddlers. They're perfect if you only need a small present, or for stockings.

I know this isn't a bargain as such

I buy stamps off my Milkman every week, towards the sweets and bits for christmas

Checked the other day, as son normally puts them in book, and I have over £100 to spend

Lots of choccy and goodies this year, yum yum

I was after one of those trolley tokens - you know that go in supermarket trolleys and lockers cos im fed up of not having the right change - they come on a keyring.

I looked on ebay and they are about £1.50 plus p+p. One chap was selling them with snowmen on (i dont really care whats on it as long as its not rude). Anyway as out of season he was selling them by the dozen brand new on the cardboard strip for £2.99. With postage I still paid under a fiver. I have one now my OH has one and I got ten (free in my mind) to put in as stocking fillers.

If you live where you have a store called "The Works" they do lots of very reasonably priced books, art materials, some games and some musical instruments.
I've bought a number of my presents in there.

I always try and get an extra item each week when doing the shop,,,usual stuff like loo roll , cat food,,Lenor etc but its stuff we all need all the time,,,So its saving my having to fork out for 'usual' stuff at christmas. I just buy it and shove it in a cupboard,,

A good idea i have done for the last 2 christmases for my sister who lives alone, was i bought an inexpensive whicker basket and filled up with food goodies that i bought bit by bit along with my ordianary shopping.
last year i manged to purchase a really lovely old hat box all pink with ribbons on it, and filled it with bath goodies and a bed set, she loved it and the basket and box is being reused for storage.

Sharm,
I used to do similar from my hubby's grandad but with home made pickles jams etc.
I also do the same when there is someone having a baby - buy wipes, cotton wool etc when on offer and keep it all in a gift bag ready for Christmas/arrival. Bit practical but my sister in law thought they were great when I did them for her 2!

The Book People have great Bargains and are V Savvy. I work for a v large firm and we have rather plush offices with a grand foyer (is that how you spell it) that a lot of companies rent in the evening to host events (we have caterers too). Anyway we all have to pass through the foyer if we want to go to the downstairs restaurant.

The book people set up every pay day (see I said Savvy) in the foyer and are there from about 11am to 3pm with all the books, cards and dvd's out on display.

On payday in the nice and warm without leaving the office its hard not to spend small a fortune stockpiling gifts everymonth lol

Matalan have 3 for 2 on cards and wrapping paper. It's ok too, not cheap looking. The packs are only £2 each anyway. Especially handy if you have kids as it's a waste putting dear wrapping on their pressies - they don't seem to notice what it's like - just how fast they can rip it off with their teeth!
