My flight to Cancun which was leaving at 11.25 Sunday morning has now been cancelled, but it is going over to collect the people there to bring them back to safety. Yes we are gutted suitcases all packed and ready to go, i have been searching all day for an alternative but there is nothing left. I keep reminding all the family that we are the Lucky ones. My thoughts go to those who may not be so lucky.

Sharm, no one know exactly where its going to hit, as Hurricanes have a habit of changing course, so its 'tin hats' on just in case I'm afraid.....'Dean' is now a Cat 5, one of the strongest to have hit Jamaica, the winds in Jamaica are starting to build up now, as I write....I just hope that Jamaica can withstand the Cat 5..... somehow I don't think they can!!. ..Lilly

Just found this:::: and its looking very bad for Jamaica, please keep them in your thoughts, my daughter has all her husbands family over there!! As Mega Hurricane Dean churns towards Jamaica, preparations for its arrival are in high gear. Unfortunately all models seem to think that it will definately come over us. The truth is we cannot manage a category 4 or 5 hurricane... the only thing we can do now is pray and call out to our saviour for protection. passing over the causeway this morning the sea is tranquil and the birds have vanished - an ominous sign of what is to come. My eyes have been glued to the weather channel waiting to hear that it has wobbled further north our south ( which has been the norm for pass hurricanes nearing Jamaica) but so far nothing... I am really concerned about the possible storm surge that may acompany this system for many of Jamaica's populated communites e.g Greater Portmore are below sea level and are very close to the sea. If Dean is to bring a 3 storey wave ( which it triggered over the Carribean sea lastnight) onshore Jamaica i really fear a Jamaican Katrina scenario. This may be my last post prior to the storm.. and if it does hit, more than likely we wont have electricity for weeks...I'l try to post before 'D' day if possible. Your prayers are truly needed and appreciated now. God be with you all and God be with Jamaica-- in him we put all our trust.. 'thy will be done...' .....There no more I can say is there...those poor people.......my son in law is worried sick!.....Lilly

Results for Saba (17.63N, 63.22W): The eye of the storm is about 380 miles (612 km) away. If the system keeps moving at its current speed of 17 mph and directly towards you, it will take around 22.4 hours (Sunday, August 19 at 9:24AM AST) to reach you. Given the current windfield (205 miles from the center), tropical storm winds will be felt in 10.3 hours (Saturday, 9:18PM AST).
