I haven't been back for years Sue. I know the cottage we lived in and the fish factory that backed onto the cottage has been demolished though. I went to school there for a couple of years, and it was amazing!! Run by two ladies, one the widow of the previous headmaster, the other a spinster. It was a bit like the old 'Dame' schools!! We started the day by singing 'Trelawney' - a cornish rebellion song! maggie |

Devils Kitchen is what we was told it was called. It is a big Lake so smooth just like glass, it could have been in the mountains (well base of them i was only 11 and i dont think the school would let us climb them at that age). We got the slate that was laying around the edge and would skim them across the water to see how many times they would bounce. Also love Illfracombe in Devon it feels like home evreytime i go there, and if i ever win any substantial amount of money that is where home will be! |

Caz, One of the 'least expected' places is just off the M62 (litrally). Years ago me and hubby and kids used to do alot of walking. I am talking about Saddleworth Moor. We were only a few hundred yards from the main M62 Motorway, but what we found was beautiful,.... A valley (not seen from motorway) with streams and waterfalls. Have a rough Idea where, but, as it was yrs ago, would be a bit difficult. LLx |

Ooh Caz, what a question, can't narrow it down to one place. many in the Lake district of course. The view that Sally Whittaker put forward for Britain's best is one of my magical places , looking down Wast Water I have a photo of this that I took one day several years ago and it hangs in my lounge. Tarn Hows, Blea Tarn, looking across from Elterwater to The Langdales, too many to mention really. Then Laugharne in S Wales Dylan Thomas's boathouse. all the area around St Mawes/St Just in Roseland, Porth Navas, Sennen Cove Cornwall, Around Buckfast, Dartmoor Devon. The coastal villages and places between Anstruther and st Andrews, better stop there we live in a beautiful country, shame about the weather I have many places in the Cotswolds as well of course, strangely not many in my home county of Hampshire that I would call magical although many places that I love to visit because they are special to me. So crowded these days though. One rather magical place is Portchester castle. Ann Glos |

Morning Caz, I've not visited all of Britain yet, but from the places I have, the Lakes took my breath away.Scotland, for me, was like going home and I was upset when we had to come back, such a beautiful place. Then of course there are all the little places we pass through on our travels, if only our eyes could take the pictures. Hev x |

At my caravan .............. it is a different world .......... no thieves, leave your car unlocked at night ........... leave the caravan door unlocked if it comes to it ............... people are friendly ......... and an example of people caring .......the week before last i was approached by a lady asking me if i had seen a young girl of 11 yrs old as she had been missing 2 hrs and her friends didn't know where she was either ........ they told me it was a lady i speak to's daughter ............. i immediately got up from my seat and went to join the search party ............ there must have been at least 50 people looking for her ......... we had split up into groups ............... some people did the beach south ......... some people did the beach north ............. some people did the caravan site ............... some people walked up into the village ........ no stone was unturned ............... Her father eventually found her under her bed ........ and i have to say he was somewhat angry but at least the child turned up safe and unharmed .............. but it just goes to show that there people who genuinely care .............. Nothing is too much trouble for anyone ............ |

The very best view is the view up the Mawddach estuary (Barmouth Wales) from Panorama Walk, stunning! For memories I would have to say Dalby in the Isle of Man, where I lived for a while when I was a child, beautiful views over to Ireland, wildflowers and butterflies, fields to run in, trees to climb, rock pools to investigate and shells to collect. Great place to be a child. Rosexx |

I love this area around Rivington, the scenery is gorgeous and we get loads of visitors evry weekend. I call it the Lancashire Lake District, you can find some pictures of it on Rewind Lancs. Jeff x |
