You are right Lesley but i think it will be the case of people leaving. There are so many that have left and others like myself that hardly post anymore. Its a shame as this was such a fun and caring place and all of us are losing out because of the arguments. Jax xx

I'd just like to add my thoughts to this thread. I used to post regularly on the General Boards up until a few months ago. Then there was a huge disagreement with much mud slinging, nastiness, back biting etc. so I took a few months rest. A couple of weeks ago I thought I would return and start posting again. And the day I returned and read the General Boards - there it was, once again, more disagreements, more bitchiness, more mud slinging. I felt quite sad by it all - nothing had changed. I'd like to add that I belong to another forum which has family history as it's main theme, but, like General USED to be, it's also a place to share good times, bad times, research, and/or just have a good old chat and wish people well. I'm also a moderator on my son's website which has been going for 9 months now - during that time I am very pleased, and proud too, to say there hasn't been one person on there who has stirred up trouble - we are, just as the General Board here used to be, a very friendly, welcoming bunch of people who talk about all sorts of topics without so much as a hint of nastiness. Why? Because we have one word for each other - RESPECT. If anyone would like more info. on both websites, please feel free to pm me or - I'll be glad to help. May I Add my feelings of sadness at what is happening to the threads hereabouts. Surely people can agree to disagree politely, respecting others right to a differing opinion. I have not often joined in but used to enjoy lurking in the background 'listening' to the lively discussions.Not any more,and its sad to see people leaving each day. I sincerely hope the problems can be solved before the rot takes permanent hold. Best of luck to you all Merle

Morning Lesley:) Only thing last night episode showed me was how some, posted for the sake of it, it seemed to me that it was really just a place to vent there aggression on, some just wouldn't let go, and reading back over that thread, it is obvious, to me anyway, that some were out for blood, didn't matter who's in the end, just anyones. It's sad to see so many angry people who say such nasty things, for absolutly no reason whatsoever. Maybe the general board is too general, maybe it should be more genealogy related, if someone asks a genealogy question on here, lots of people will tell them to look on the records or tips boards, maybe we should share more of our family history stories on here? It is only a chat room after all, and if people only have this board to communicate on, maybe they should really try other sites to vary who they talk to. Linda's thead made me crease up to to, she sure has a way with words, and put life in perspective, maybe she should start a site, we'd all have a bloomin good laugh on that one she'd make us :)))

I have been amember for over 4 years and used to post regularly. However, over the last year or so, I have not had much time to visit GR but whenever I do, there has always been some kind of slanging match gone on that I know nothing about. I would just like to say that this kind of thing is what puts me off joining in on general and I only use Tips and Records now to ask for or give help. Lynne

You may be right Lynda, but I for one really need this board. I don't get out much and I am often so grateful to have a place to go to chat to people. If it were turned into a purely genealogy site, it would become only work, wouldn't it? Deanna X

Hi Deanna:)) I didn't mean lose all the chat, thats nice, I mean perhaps more stories of others finds, for instace Pat has written small pieces about her Grandfather it is so interesting, I also feel when someone asks a question re genealogy on the gen board, it is often ignored, or the poster told to go elsewhere, which I know in some cases is the right reply, but just to tell someone what to do, could be answered on here.
