I agree with Messy Misa. Well, we've all said it before haven't we?. I would NOT leave my kids alone in the UK let alone a foreign country. This couple have never, to my knowledge, ever , ever, held their hands up and said what they were guilty for and by law....it's the N word!! They expect full-on tea & sympathy and expect no one to pass ctitisism their way!! It angers me that GM trots his way around the globe as if he is some heroe. How dare he preach to others on how to take care of children? |

I've never understood Mr. McCann's well-documented justification that leaving his children on that night was just like 'dining at the bottom of your garden while your children are in bed'. I would say that anyone dining at the bottom of their 50+yd garden while their children slept in a house with the front door unlocked would be taking almost as big a risk as the McCanns did. |

I'm sorry to say that yes I did it in a hotel years and years ago when my children were small and 30 years later my stomach churns at the thought of what could have happened ,,, they were on the second floor and we went into the lounge , one thing I do think about now is , you put your money jewelry and passport in a safe but leave your most precious possession lying out on the bed for anyone to take !!! |

If you type McCann concerts in search box, there is one mention on a Duncan James site, about a fundraising concert in Donnington on July 29th which was Sunday but I can't find further reference to it! This is all getting rather ridiculous, and I can't see how they can justify clawing in any money from the public. I saw a snippet on the news about further developments in one of the newspapers tomorrow. It is nearly 3 months now that that dear little girl has been seperated from her family. I can't stop wondering how she is coping and if she is with people who are good to her. |

I find it odd that after putting the kids in the kids club all day every day, why did they decline to pay for a night time babysitter, and refuse the offer of even a baby monitor? |

hi i agree that it is a shame about this poor little girl, as i have said i do not read the papers i watched it on sky news. it was a massive mistake to leave the children on their own, i do have questions though would you after the ABDUCTION of one child leave 2 of your other children while you went around other countries for a while (i wouldn't) would you casually stroll along the beach, while your child is missing? i wouldn't that is just not normal behaviour, jet:) |

Budgie, The problem with their leaving the children alone is that they have never said that it was a mistake. In fact they arranged a meeting with the Portugese Police in order to release a press statement saying that they did not do anything wrong. Sympathies would be more widespread if only they admitted that leaving the children in such a vulnerable situation was wrong and used this fact to warn other parents. Those of us who are against team McCann base our animosity on this and the sheer arrogance of their self belief that leaving 3 tots in an unlocked villa in a foreign country was perfectly acceptable. Disgraceful to tar us all with the same brush, I would not have left my child like they did theirs. IF the parents had kept the children with them as many do when abroad, or stayed in the rooms with the children, Madeleine would still be with her family, plain and simple. So why should we not blame the parents for her disappearance? It is always best to err on the side of caution when children are concerned especially, better safe than sorry comes to mind! Children are far too precious to risk their safety in selfish ways like this. Liz |

Janet has got it spot on.............. I don't agree with the press article or Gerry McCann if that is what he said BUT I see it when we go aboard ..parents out in the hotel bar or resturant and the kids left in the rooms BUT they are in the minority. |
