Most of you probably wont know about this news story as i think it was probably just on the regional news. A few months ago an old lady was attacked in her home and badly beaten and left for dead. She was in her 80's and suffering from Alzheimers and terminal cancer. The news reports showed her injuries in very graphic detail and it upset me very much at the time. Its just been on the news that she has died today, after never recovering from the beating she took and apparently they are questioning a 23 yr old man. I feel really upset about it again and it makes me wonder how anybody can bring themselves to treat another person this way. I hope this lad, if its him responsible, spends the rest of his life miserable and that nothing goes right for him. |

Its just awful to think that she had to spend her last few months alive like that. I cant imagine what her family must be thinking and feeling. |

I too read about that lady from Shiremoor. It's so sad that someone can do that to another human being let alone an elderly lady. Elf |

The world is full of evil, it is all around us. A woman in the next town apparently killed her eight year old daughter for a miserable twelve euros. The daughter went to visit her grandmother who always gave her money and the mother knew it. The little girl would buy food for the younger children. The mother wanted the child to hand over the money and when she refused she was beaten. Apparently, she hit her child's head against the wall. The police have been given the run around as to where the body is hidden. Over the weekend one of the t.v. stations was interviewing people that came from far and wide to see where the child lived and hoping to see if the police found her body. (Sunday afternoon drive) "That makes me sick to my stomach" In the past social security had been alerted to the fact that the child was being abused but they filed the complaint. Lisa, I have always believed in "capital punishment" but in this case hanging would be too quick. Lindy:-( |

I must agree that it seems an awful waste of the Taxpayers' money to keep these people in Jail for years. I know the arguments about people "Found Innocent" after serving a few years, but there are definitely some who deserve to die for what they've done. I would also like to see the Pillory or the Stocks back in use for those Bl...y Juveniles who make people's lives a misery with their anti-social behaviour. Never mind the Ankle Bracelet and Anonymity. Let us see the little devils shamed in front of the whole Community. Jim |

Ive been watching the news again and the report said the 23yr old who they named is up at crown court next week charged with actual bodily harm with intent and burglary. I know im probably lining myself up to get shot here, but i bet it comes to light he's a drug addict who was burgling someone who he thought was easy prey but the lady apparently put up a fight. It just seems that everytime you hear of a crime drugs are involved. I would make the little B*****D take so much heroin he overdosed himself. |

They say that if someone goes to jail for this sort of crime, the inmates give them a severe beating, sometimes time and time again. It sounds as if this is what that scum deserves. Sorry, but I can't call him a man - it's an insult to all the good men around! Here endeth my bit! Glenys. |

I agree with Lisa here. Capital punishment should be brought back. This country is far far to soft for it's own good. There is no deterrant at all. Ok there were a couple of 'slip ups' back in the fifties when they punished the wrong people, but surley in this modern day and age and with scientific tests etc the chances of being wrong are rare. What is the point of us paying to keep the Huntley scum alive after what he did. I could go on. Jo. |

they should bring back hanging for the scum that commit these crimes. our local paper has been full lately of the murder of 18 month old jordan mc gann, this beautiful little girl was murdered by her own mother and her new boyfriend, whom i might add she only knew for 2 days before she moved him in with her and her 2 children,4 weeks later jordan was dead, her injuries were horrific, what in the world posseses a mother to do that to her own child, the babys father is devasted.both mother and boyfriend are up on 4 counts, murder, neglect, willful abandanment and child crulty, these scum have applied for bail and were surprised when it was denied, apparently the mother fears for her life in jail, the boyfriend has previous and has been locked up before for injuring another child. these people dont deserve to live and i hope they rot in jail for a very long time. Debbie, did you say the mother fears for her life in jail? Oh poor dear, my heart bleeds for the poor love. I mean, what has she done wrong? Well, as the lawyer said, I rest my case - no pun intended. |

If these people are found guilty, why not use them for medical research instead of innocent animals. |
