On the rare occasion that someone has shared a secret with me, my usual reaction is one of "is that it?". Of course, it's impossible to tell beforehand how something with such emotional attachment for the person involved will be perceived by someone else.

There's also the safety in numbers aspect. As you will have seen on here, if one person feels brave enough to speak out on something that is personal to them, then others feel more comfortable about commenting on their experiences, reassured in the knowledge that their feelings won't be invalidated, etc.

Agreed Andy, but on the other hand... some things are so personal that I for one am not compfortable sharing with the masses so to speak - some things are beast dealt with one to one, once you trust someone. Steph - is it the one I know ? lol

Andy

Andy Report 3 Feb 2005 13:14

That's true as well, Paul and at present, there are things I haven't shared on here, though there are a small handful of people who know about them, where I've spoken on a one-to-one basis. Would I share them, if someone started a thread where the subject matter directly related to them? I'm not sure, it would very much depend on others' responses before I would feel whether I could post a reply.
