Something for you to debate... 1. Is it an outdated concept or in other words are we all supposed to be equal? Or is it still part of the fabric of society? 2. Is being chivalrous really the same as being well mannered? E.g. opening doors for women. 3. Is it seen in any way demeaning or patronising? |

There is nothing nicer than a chilvarous male in my opinion.... even last night a male refused to allow me to buy him a drink as he said his parents would be appalled.... NICE!! But I would still offer and happily pay my way without thinking that the man was tight or anything like that! I like all that male strength stuff, as long as it's manners and not because of arrogance and a man thinking I can't do things myself!! |

I think it has a place still but am not sure whether there is a difference between chivalry and being well-mannered. I do open doors and so on, I haven't received any glares but one lass nearly fainted once as she wasn't used to it, lol. I don't doff my cap though, lol. |
