Fi, reading your sad news restores my faith in human nature regarding what you did for Angel. Some years ago when one of our late cats was very ill, we took him to the vets where we saw 2 ladies bring in an obviously very sick cat. Its nose was bleeding as it had nasal cancer, it was mewing pitifully, and guess what - the vet could do nothing, and it had to be taken back home, to suffer even more. Why? Because its owner, who was too cowardly to bring him in herself, 'loved him too much' to have him put to sleep by the vet. We witnessed all this in the waiting room. The vet, although calm, was clearly angry at this stupid woman and was powerless in law to do anything, apart from 'recommend euthanasia'. He rang her up, but again, she refused to end her cats suffering. So be heartened by what you did for her; you showed how much you loved her by doing this. By way of feline therapy, our Chloe, Midge, Pepper, Sooty and Topsy send hugs and purrs your way. With love and hugs, Glenys x |

Fi I'm so sorry to hear about Angel. It is such a hard decision to have to make, but I'm sure it was the right one for Angel. I know how sad you must be at the moment, but she will always be with you in spirit. I know it won't be long before it is my turn to make that choice for my Misty and I'm dreading it. Hope your chicken pox is better soon :o) Love & hugs Sue + Misty, Tom, Ginge, Jasmine and Kitty |

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge. When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable. All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor. Those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind. They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent. His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster. You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart. Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together.... Author unknown... So sorry to hear about Angel! |

My heartfelt sympathy Fi, I am an animal lover with 3 ponies, 8 rabbits, 2 guinnea Pigs and a cat and I really do understand what your going through. Its a hard decision but I believe you made the correct one. I wouldn't see any of my animals suffer a moment longer than they needed to. For the love of animals, who don't ansa you back like kids do ! With sympathy Elaine :-) |

Fi, I'm so sorry about Angel. We really get attached to our animals. Our dog is ten and has always been a maniac running everywhere but just before I came away his back legs started to go funny. My son who is still in London got very upset when he heard about his dog. Luckily for Kramer the vet gave him an injection in his spine and some steriod tablets that he takes daily and he is fine but very bored as he is not allowed to be exercised. He keeps looking at us to see exactly what is wrong with us! It was so lovely to meet you at Kew. I was hopeless and didn't find anything. Hope you get over your chicken pox soon. My grandaughter who is nearly 8 has a kitten called He/She/Baby it is black and she adores it. He/She because they didn't know at first whether it was a girl or a boy and then Baby - so it comes to all three names. She carries it around like a baby and the kitten which is now quite big lets her and just puts her arms around her neck just like she is her baby. All the best, Christine |

Fi, I am so very sorry. You were one of the first people I 'spoke' to on this Board about 18 months ago. I never think of you as Fi but always as Fi and Angel. I am thinking of you and hope that time will help to heal your pain. Take care and look after yourself. I wish you better. Jean x. |

You have done the responsible and the ultimate in love by this. It is very, very difficult to make this decision and no matter how right it is heartbreaking and mindblowing. She sounds like she knew it was time by her wandering. She sounds like she was looking for a place. I had my darling put to sleep nearly three years ago. It was horrendous for but she died in my arms where she always knew she was safe. Ever had a cat with a learning disability? Well Lilly was incredibly beautiful but supremely stupid. My baby. Now I can remember the ten good years she had with me in the lap of luxury without crying. I hope your chicken pox is better soon too. Love Abigail |

Fi, really sorry to hear about Angel. I know how you feel, I cried buckets when we had to have a dog put to sleep years ago and more recently I even had a tear or two about two rats my daughter had. You did the right thing, Angel is now at peace and not suffering. |
