I used Nana for one grandmother, Grandma for the other. Grandad for one grandfather and Grandpop for the other (even though I never knew him). They've all passed on now, even though I'm only 21.

I was brought up by my Grandparents .... my Grandma I called Nana ... and my Grandad ... I called Gaga, cos I couldn't say Grandad ! ... its still VERY difficult not to say Gaga when I'm talking about him, but I'm getting there with Grandad .. although it feels uncomfortable. Elaine :-)

My grandmother was always Grandma, but I let the little ones of hubby's call me Nanna D.... I didn't want to be Nanny as that sounded like a goat to me and a bit to close to the truth!! :O)

I'm Grandma and hubby is Grandad Doug to all our grandchildren. Their other grandfathers are all called Grandad (name) but Little Nanny, Big Nanny, Granny and Nanny for their grandmothers. My mum was always Grandma Mollie to mine and my brother's kids and it seemed right that I was called Grandma as Mum died before my grandchildren were born. My mother-in-law was always Nanny Worthing (coz that's where she lives! LOL) to my kids and now to my grandkids. My Canadian grandmother was Nanny in Canada and my English grandparents were Nanny and Pop Pop (changed to Grandad as we got older). My Dad always called his father-in-law Pop so I suppose Pop Pop was a natural name for him to be called. My son-in-law always called his grandparents by their first names (his parents too) but when my grandaughter was born my daughter thought it was wrong for her to use first names so they became Granny (name) and Grandad (name) and Great Granny (name). My mother-in-law refused to be Grandma or Granny as it made her feel too old and insisted on Nanny. She was 52 when her first grandchild was born. I couldn't wait to be called Grandma - I was 48! When my elder son started to talk he called my Mum 'Ma' and my Dad 'GaGa'! They soon corrected him though. LOL Sue xx

I had a Nanny & Grandad & a Grandma & Grandad, The Grannys chose their own titles as neither liked the other title for different reasons! My children call my Mum Nanny - she chose that too! My youngest used to call his dummy a 'nana' so that got a bit confusing!! I find that there are not many Nanny cards though for birthday & mothers day!

I only had one Grandmother, the other and Grandfathers had died before I was born but we HAD to call her Grandma if we made the mistake of calling her Nan or Nanny we got Slapped! 'I am not a Paid Servant, I am your Grandmother'!, we all thought it funny and occasionally we slipped up just to annoy her, we had learnt to react quicker or course, :)) To my one year old Grandaughter I am Nanny, hubby is Grandad or Popsie and my Mum is Nanna, the other side is Nanny and Grandad too but I'm sure the surname's will soon be added on, my sisters to her are Granty 'name' and brothers Grungle 'name' :)))) Carrie

My kids (all grown up now) call my mother in law and father in law, grandma & grandad. My mum is also grandma, (that's what she likes) my dad is Poppy. When my grandad was still alive the children called him Old Poppy. When I was a child both sets were Nan & grandad, but I had one set of greats still alive, they were Great gran & Great grandad. My mother was a children's nanny, so she is Granny to our children. My parents-in-law are now both dead, but their first grandchild, my eldest son, christened them Marna and Parder when he was beginning to talk. My dad's parents were both dead before I knew them, but my mum's parents were Grannie and Granddad to me. My husband was lucky enough to have all 4 of his grandparents living until he was 18. The English ones were Nanna and Papa and the Welsh ones Dadcu and Mamgu [willing to be corrected on spelling - its pronounced dadkey and mamgee] nell

My dad's mum has always been 'Nanan' and his dad was 'Popa' to me. My children call both sets 'Grandma and Grandad' either with the donkeys or with Benji (dog). They call my grandmother 'Great Nanny'. Louise
