You can wash the keys if its just surface sticky. If they are sticking, as in staying pressed, you can rinse with warm water, but make sure you tip the laptop upside down to dry so any liquid drains out. Best thing is as soon as you spill anything in your laptop, swill it with water and tip it upside down immediately - if its left to dry you may not be able to clean it properly and it will need taking apart. (I know this 'cos my step-dad has had to do it more than once with a friend's laptop...she keeps managing to throw red wine at it!! lol)

As long as there is no electrical supply into the machine, and no additives in the water, you shouldn't have a problem...it might not take too kindly to being tossed around though! :O)) just don't take it to the nearest launderette 'cos I doubt their insurance will cover it!! lol

if you put it in the tumble dryer- wrap a towel around it first, then you dont risk it damaging your tumble dryer. lol.

Sarah

Sarah Report 27 Mar 2005 20:01

Seriously though Paul, you can rinse out a laptop without causing damage - plain water is ok as long as there is no power to the machine when you do it (ie unplug it AND remove the battery pack), and don't soak it completely - the real problems stem from things like coffee and beer 'cos of the sugars in them.

can you hang it on the line? or is it best just to put it on the radiator?? Bev
