I'm going to sound like a right hypocrite, but just humour me, please! Although I'm not enamoured with them, I'd like to buy a newspaper today to read about it. We went to another wedding yesterday, which was lovely, so we haven't seen the news, etc. to see how CC's one went.

I hadn't intended to watch the wedding, having my own views on Charles and his suitability as future head of the church etc, but ended up catching some of it. It has to be said she looked lovely and they both looked very happy, and after all this time they do both deserve to be happy together. My arguement would be that his right to marry a woman he so obviously loves is a seperate issue to his right to the throne as a result of this marriage. I wish them both well in their new life together, but i hope that the Queen will live a long and healthy life so that Charles as our King is not an issue, he has done too much damage to command the love and respect that comes with the role. Carol I think the media will swing the other way and rehabilitate Camilla a bit. This is what they do after all - remember Princess Anne used to get a lot of flak, but not so much now. I was rather amused to see Piers Morgan talking about how Camilla had been attacked by the media, including himself, and how she had borne it admirably. It's hard enough coping with marrriage, divorce, etc in private, but to have the spotlight on everything you do must be very difficult, especially if you haven't been brought up in that atmosphere. I thought she looked very nervous today and much more relaxed when it was over and she was arriving in Scotland. nell

I can imagine that Camilla and the Queen share many interests ie Horses. Camilla is an inteligent woman and could match any of the senior royals in discussions on many topics i'm sure.

Just read this on BBC news online which I thought was nice: Comedian Stephen Fry told reporters the Queen said: 'I've got two things to announce to you of the greatest importance. 'The first is that the Grand National was won by Hedgehunter. 'The second is to say to you that, despite Becher's Brook and The Chair and all kinds of other terrible obstacles, my son has come through and I'm very proud and wish them well.' Charles is said to have responded by saying: 'I don't think I can compete with my mother on racing allusions.' The reception was hosted by the Queen at Windsor Castle's State Apartments. It was attended by around 800 guests, including members of royalty politicians and entertainment personalities. Another guest, who refused to be named, told how the Queen 'said how wonderfully happy the occasion was'. Prince Charles also gave a speech which one guest said moved many to tears. Mark Green, who attended the reception, said Charles made a total of five toasts. 'One was to his dear wife and the others were to family members'. An unnamed guest said Charles included his father-in-law in the toasts. 'He said he was honoured to be his son-in-law and he also toasted his father and Camilla. Lord Melvyn Bragg said the atmosphere at the reception was riotous. 'Every time they said anything, it was more like being a football hooligan at an Arsenal match, instead of clapping politely they just went 'yes!',' he said. He added that Camilla got on 'tremendously' with Princes William and Harry.

I was clearing out a cupboard today and found some old newspaper copies of Charles and Diana`s wedding. I am not a fan of either Charles or Camilla but have to say he looked happier today than he did at his first wedding. It may have been nerves then but he did look more relaxed today. I loved her second outfit... even the feathers. Marianne.

Not wearing a seat belt is what caused Diana's death. She was spending an evening with a man she was supposedly in love with, not pining alone in a tower. Whatever the private miseries of her marriage, they were over when she died. Being happily married isn't an insurance against dying. People carry on as though Camilla had hired a hit man to assassinate Diana. In fact, if Diana had followed royal tradition, instead of getting divorced she would have put up with the other woman in Charles life. If we are modern enough to accept that she had a right to happiness with someone else, I don't see why the same standard doesn't apply to Charles and Camill

read an article earlier in the week that said he ahda problem with his hand so perhaps thats why he didn't have his ring on as they definitely exchanged rings 22ct Welsh gold thats what I read anyway. I think they looked very good together and very comfortable. He was obviously mindful of her nervousness adn like dit when she stroked his hand. Jayne

I've never seen Prince Charles look happier. I think that he's finally got his soul mate so he has lots to smile about. Louise

Rhonda, Charles was wearing a wedding ring, apparently its tradition for Royal bridegrooms to wear their wedding ring on their little finger, he was wearing his under his sovereign.

Anyone foolish enough not to wear a seat belt let alone in a car driving at high speed is putting their lives at risk, the words 'if only she was lalalalal' doesn't come into it.

Helen - if Charles & Diana had been happily married, Diana wouldn't have been in Paris that night, let alone in a car without her seatbelt on. That's how I work it out. I don't think Charles and Diana should have married in the first place, they wern't well matched. I personally don't think Charles even loved Diana . . . . he even said, 'Whatever love means'. He was under pressure to marry and provide an heir to the throne.

Felicity Report 9 Apr 2005 20:15

It's unfair to blame Diana's death on the fact that Charles and Camilla didn't marry all those years ago. No-one can predict or alter the future and any situation simply is what it is. As a 19-year-old I was married with tiny children when I met a 21-year-old who was also married with tiny children. We 'did the right thing' and got on with the lives that we had already created for ourselves to the best of our ability and it wasn't until nearly 30 years later that we finally made contact with one another again and were free to marry. After many years as a single parent, life for me is now is truly wonderful, and I really feel for Charles and Camilla who have been under the spotlight all this time. Sure enough, my husband and I were not actually in touch with one another for most of that 30 years so there wasn't the same scope for scandal, but that doesn't alter the fact that it took 30 years for us to be together. Even Royalty are just people, making the best of their lives that they can in circumstances that most of us would not realistically wish to trade for our own. I know I wouldn't like the world and his wife telling me how I should and shouldn't live my life and pointing out my every flaw.

Brian I don't know how you work that one out. If Diana had been wearing a seat belt she'd still be alive. nell

Hawthorn Report 9 Apr 2005 19:37

It's just a pity this marriage came 30 odd years too late I'm certain they are very well matched . . . . if they had married all those years ago it would have saved the death of a lovey person.

I've just seen an interview with one of the guests, Melvyn Bragg, who said the Queen's speech began with 'you all want to know who won the Grand National' and then said of Charles and Camilla 'They've been through Becher's brook and the Chair and are now in the Winning enclosure'. This would indicate that she approves of the wedding, even if she can only think in terms of horses! nell

This is nice, I think. from the net: Princes William and Harry had decorated the Bentley which drove the couple away from the castle. The words 'Prince' and 'Duchess' were sprayed on either side of the windscreen and 'Just Married' written on the back windscreen. Bunches of red, white and yellow metallic balloons had been tied to the couple's car.
