Hi BC. I consider myself as a very handy woman. I will paint and decorate, even very high ceilings, landings and staircases. Have fitted 26ft x 12ft carpet with one end being ony 9ft. It all arrived on a Bamboo pole, what a nightmare. Never hesitate to fit a stair carpet. Have been in the loft and sawn through rafters ready for gas pipe to be fitted by Corgi registered fitter. Have moved a Main Cooker Box from one side of the kitchen to another, because I didnt like where my electric cooker was situated. Laid Ceramic tiles on the Kitchen floor, then did the Breakfastroom. Spent a week laying Yorkshire Stone in the front garden, Stone so heavy I could hardly lift it. Have recconnected a Gas fire. Got underneath a car and fitted Universal Joints to an old car in the early 1970's. Just to name a few things that I am so proud of doing in the past. Jenny, Jack of all Trades and Master of None. |

Hi BC I do all the Paint and decorating, some electrics, can change washers on taps. I do the garden which not only means a bit of weeding but I plant out, I did the flag stones built the rockery, moved with the help of my eldest son 8ft x 6ft wooden shed from the back to the side garden. built a herb garden. I would like to learn to plaster as well. I love doing odd jobs, but I am resting at the moment, so the garden is not gonna look good this year as no one else bothers :-( Pat x |

My 8 yr old grandaughter arrived today, and asked to go in the garden, collected the shed keys, got out the broom and swept all the paths, and round the side of the house. She said she had also weeded the onions that she planted earlier in the year. Dave |

Louise If you want to plumb in a washing machine, go to your local DIY shop, or failing that, B&Q. and buy a machine waste that cuts into an existing waste pipe. You can also obtain hot and cold taps that cut themselves into existing 15mm copper pipes. Ask them to show you how to fit them. If they can't, don't buy them, go somewhere else. B&Q or WICKES may also have a leaflet showing you how. I don't know for sure as I've not been to either lately. Whole job should take less than 15 mins. David |

ok louise here goes ! hubby fancies himself has a diy'er- like most men ! when we moved to new house - he plumbed the washer in fine [ set up already there !] then he decided we needed an outside tap for garden and fishpond. he did whatever he did- then asked me to stand in the garden- turn the tap on- and shout to him what the flow was like . the flow was lovely- but...... not water....... bloody gas !!! WHEN the gas board arrived [pmsl] trying to keep there faces straight - they explained how lucky we had been !!! like i needed telling ! he had joined the gas pipe to the tap . need i say more. at the moment he is building 10 ft X 6 ft gates for the side driveway........ i wonder........ |
