I know this is not the type of thread I normally post at this time of the evening.But from being about 16 until I was 29 I used to fear that I would die when I was 28 and that year was one I was glad to see the back of.I used to worry about it a lot and I had 2 young children then and it really frightened me.Anyway early in that year I got German measles nothing alarming you might not think but it made me really ill and took me a long time to get over I felt dreadful and thought the grim reaper was coming for me. I know it was silly and Im still here nearly twice that age now. Davex

I was in a coach accident once. We all saw the danger coming and as the bus tipped over and I was falling I had time to think 'Am I going to die?'. I didn't obviously! But the comforting thing is that while I was thinking that I don't remember feeling afraid. Helenxx

When I was 14 I took a massive overdose and thought I would die but wasn't afraid. Hubby is convinced he will die in a car crash at46

How honest Julie your hubby will come through it like I did but it does freak you out.! Dx

Have had to be revived a couple of times after surgery - ( have problems with anaesthetics) I wasnt really scared then - I was younger. A bit scared now though - as I have so much left I want to do. But what is for you wont go by you as they say in Scotland

Dave at the age of 12 I was in a coma for almost two weeks - i lapsed in and out of consciousness and knew i was dying. i saw the light above me and was happy, not scared at all. Fortunately I recovered but have never forgotten that feeling. Anne

yes dave,it was in 1999,and i was one of the first medics on scene,at the paddington train crash,i was crawling across bodies looking for survivors,when the carriage caught fire. i thought that was it! bryan.

Yes it did help. It was a very strange and nasty experience all together but I think I am less scared of death now. Wow! How morbid and serious of me :-) Helenxx

Gosh mine is insignificant to what a lot of you have been through but for that twelve months it made me ill and maybe that was in my mind as well! Dx

Dave not so much of dieing but how and where who knows Howard

No Dave never bothered me, but I came very close this year, so close I was in septic shock I could feel myself going the voices dimenishing and pure blankness, thats the only way I can describe it. Maybe its because I am not religious and I don't believe in life after death but it was a very strange experience just pure Black Blankness but I was too weak to care. Got an awful shock when I woke up in Intensive care, very perculiar it was. Pat x

The other night when I woke up at about 2am with awful stomach cramps and was as pale as a sheet. I thought that I was going to vomit so I knelt on the bathroom floor. One minute I was kneeling the next I was on the floor staring at the base of the toilet, I'd fainted. Eventually my husband came to my aid and diagnosed heat exhaustion. He made me some orange and added salt as per medical book dosage. A few hours later the cramps went and I was fine but drank lots. I'd been out cleaning the guttering and tidying the garden pots, etc and hadn't really noticed how hot I was getting because it was breezy and I wasn't particularly thirsty. Won't do that again! It's scary when you wake up like that after a deep sleep. Louise

Thanks Dave, I feel very good now and people making me laugh must help, but I have to tell you thought I was going to faint last night, when I saw your thread about running around naked, well it frightened the life out of me, you can get arrested for that sort of thing, plus we haven't really got the best weather for it, you could catch your death. Two years ago I had an operation and something went wrong with the anaesthetic. I remember lots of shouting and activity and in a vague dreamy way, I could hear this horrible, laboured breathing... poor ba***rd, I thought, he's on the way out.... then I realized it was me! But funnily enough, I was not afraid. BC

Oh BC that is really eerie I have heard of that type of thing before. Davex

yes twice . First time when I had a lump removed from the back of my head and had to wait for the results of a biopsy.Second time was when I was hit in the head by a full keg of Cider and drifted in and out of conciousness and watched the pool of blood from my head just getting bigger. 2 lovely scars now one on back of head biopsy all clear and one above right eye had operation on left eye to balance sight.
