Hiya Everyone, I really am overwhelmed how kind you all are - wish I could move you all into my street and get rid of neighbour from hell! Right, well I have replied to many people privately BUT THANKS TO YOU ALL. Actually, I have been looking through the Crusader brochure I got in town and that is much more reasonable than the local coach companies! Amazing, thank you for suggesting it. The Eden Project is £139 + 25 single supplement including 2 nights in a hotel. But there are several others that look interesting (strange how you can go to Italy for little more than that). MANY THANKS GUYS, YOU LOT RESTORE MY FAITH IN HUMAN KIND. By the way, if anyone wants to see a pic of the puppy that I have had emailed to me ..............

TC We go on a lot of Shearings holidays. We self drive but the coaches are in at the same time. we usually do the three day ones. It may have the reputation of OAPs but boy can they dance, and they go off walking with their boots, away from the hotel before we have had breakfast. All ages can go these days, food varies but can thoroughly recomment the Torquay one, right near the sea and shops, evening entertainment, rooms good (especially if you can upgrade to a sea view). The st Ives one is also good. Ann Glos

Just had to nip into town and I went in the only travel agent we have (its only a big village really). She gave me Crusaders and Wallace Arnold! Still at least I should look like a desirable young divorcee to all the OAPs! Will browse in a mo when I have done something towards proper work today! Oh and I think Ive poisoned myself. I got one of those airwick airfresheners - the ones with batteries - for the outside loo (yes, we still have one but its in addition to normal facilities - the estate agent called it 'a gardener's lavatory!!'. Anyway, I didnt read the instructions - couldnt find glasses until after I had spilt some on my hands - my God it smells and tastes, even though Ive washed my hands more times than Lady Macbeth.

Brenda, we have a similar problem, but I'm heartless and put the dog in the kennels for a week !!! Thankfully we have someone who'll look after her the odd day here and there, but noone that'll take her overnight. Frustrating sometimes isn't it ? (ps I was joking about the holiday in MK lol)

You can get really cheap weekend trips over to Holland on the ferry from Hull......... and you get to stock up on booze etc! Just go and sit in a Brown Cafe and everyone will be your friend!!!!! Mandy

Ive looked at the Crusader ones, nothing from this area shorter than a week. I only want a few days. Yes Thomsons holidays have an auction of last minute hols, there are some on there still at a £1! The only thing is, going on your own to foreign parts can be a bit lonely. I did go to China on my own about 6 years ago but it was with a party of people and several were solo. The other prob - sounds feeble this, but over the last few years I have had real problems with my ears when Ive flown. The last time it wasnt just pain in the air (usually when the plane is circling to land) but it actually went on for 3 weeks after coming home and was agony. I think its because my sinus problem is getting worse. So it has put me off flying somewhat!

Hi TC Theres a site I've looked at for flights, some are really really cheap but you need to be able to leave quite soon. If you could match a cheap flight up with some cheap accomodation might be worth a look cheapflights(.)co(.)uk Lisa

Karen Report 14 Jun 2005 11:47

Hiya TC You should try www(.)crusader-holidays(.)co(.)uk - remember to remove the bracketts. Me and my Mum are going on a girlie break to the Cotswolds, neither of us drive so a coach trip is ideal for us. Otherwise how about abroard - theres loads of companies offering cheap flights and then find cheap accommodation, I did it last year to Sorrento in Italy, flight and a weeks accommodation cost about £250 - bargain! :-) Have fun wherever you decide to go. Bournemouth is very nice - I live in Poole, just next door. There are lots of nice beaches, lots of shops, lots of attractions and a pretty good bus service to take you to some of the other areas around and about! I'm from the West Country and can honestly say that I would rather have a few days here than in Somerset, Devon or Cornwall!! By the way I think it's a great idea - may help lift your spirits?
