I am a newbie (been a full member for about a month) and often feel lost on the boards as most people seem to know each other and I sometimes feel a little ignored as those who know each other have conversations together. I am sure them are many others out there who feel the same or who have maybe never posted because they feel to shy or don't want to but in. Now is your chance to introduce yourself or just say hi ('oldies' welcome as well!). Louise

Noe a newbie. Think I've been a member for about 2 years but some weeks never contribute, others reply to quite a few. It may look like some people know - I am sure some do. Many seem to have met at the meets that are arranged around the country. But many of us don't know each other except on here. Welcome and I hope you get as much from these boards as most of us seem to. Not always family history help either Jane

Karen in the desert

Karen in the desert Report 16 Jun 2005 11:48

Hello goodmorning and welcome...Louise. I've been a member for about 6 months, so I guess I am still fairly new. I don't know anyone personally, but feel I am getting to know them the more I join in. They are a very friendly bunch, just like having friends. Yes, there are times when I feel ignored, or when I've posted something and get the feeling I've 'killed' a thread - but I now realise it isnt personal, it's just that this board (you may have already noticed) moves along at a terrific rate, with new threads starting all the time, and it's dificult to keep up at times. I think there are some people who know each other on here, and sometimes we others feel left out - but that's the same in the outside world, nothing bad is meant by it. When you feel confident enough, just add your bit. Don't feel dispondant if nobody answers your particular comment, it isn't personal. Take it lightly, and enjoy the fun, we do have a really good laugh on here. The day someone asks 'where is Karen in the desert' is the day I will know I've been noticed - or am being missed!!!! Hope we see plenty of you on here. K. x

Hello, Louise. I have only been a member of this site for just over a year. When I first joined I felt like a new girl in the youngest form at school! Am very much a newbie as far as family history research is concerned, only been doing it since 1999. I have not met anyone from here. Sorry if I've not answered you, or anyone else. Tempes fuges and all that. :-) in haste (at work!) Joy
