Thank you Dave. I'm an estranged Londoner these days but still have loads of family up there. Thanking God for all those who are safe and thoughts and prayers are with all who suffered in any way. Us Brits - we wont be beaten though, no matter what. Try as they might they wont win, we won't let any wicked cowards do that to us will we. Jan x

Lets all hold it together with love and solidarity. They don't realise that this nation who fought against all that fascism could hurl against us became stronger as a nation. We will see this latest assault on our freedom of spirit as a flacid attempt to dispirit us.We don't crumble under this type of assault. We stand together and give each other strength,. My love and support to all who have lost a loved one today Rose

Carolyn Report 7 Jul 2005 21:41

I was completing my last day of Jury Service today and didn't know anything about these attacks until I arrived in the Jury Waiting Room to find everyne crowded round the TV (was a bit scary as I'd just got off a double decker bus). There were loads of people trying to phone or text family and friends. We were all strangers to each other, at least until a couple of weeks ago, but it struck me how supportive people were to each other while they were waiting to hear about loved ones. The Ushers even delayed taking sitting juries down to the Courts until things were clarified. I'll never forget the last couple of days in that waiting room, yesterday the jubilation round the TV when the 2012 announcement was made and today the silence as we stared at the screen in disbelief. Thank god my dad has retired now, for 40 years he went in and out of Moorgate tube station every day, and I know I would have been worried sick, especially in the days before mobile phones. I'm so glad everyone on here seems to have heard that their loved ones are OK, sadly there are going to be many families who are not so lucky. Carolyn

Dave, Thank you. As usual, you are kindness personified. It's very sad that there are people who don't appreciate the scale of today's events. There are many thousands of commuters packed into railway trains, tube trains , stations, tunnels, buses, streets - it's a hive of activity, and it's very fortunate that many more people didn't die this morning. There will, of course, be knock-on effects - the Stock Market tumbled, and the £1 against the $1 fell sharply. Tourism is bound to be affected, and it could put off people thinking of coming to the Olympic Games, even though it's some years ahead. It will be awful for all those people who travel to work via the affected routes, as every journey will be a reminder of what happened today. Perhap Tony Blair will take the necessary drastic action now? CB >|< X
