Em C... You're in the medical profession... is that wise to admit on here? You'll have loads of people asking you about their problems :) You have such a nice manner... Anyway.. I'm no doctor, but I have in the past suffered with IBS symptoms. I don't take painkillers, as I find this just seems to upset things - but I do drink chamomile tea with ginger biscuits (homemade... low fat) to dunk with... and in the past, peppermint oil tablets have worked for me too. I know tramadol contains methylcellulose, but not in such an amount as to be help to IBS sufferers... or maybe BB's doctor felt that this ingredient would compensate for the constipation side effect? I feel that patients and doctors really need to not only trust each other, but also a patient MUST tell her doctor(s) everything so as mix-ups like this can be avoided. I haven't been doubled over in pain with IBS for years now (touch wood, fingers crossed), and have few noticeable symptoms... but I shan't allow myself to become complacent about few symptoms, as I know how easily this condition can become painful when not controlled. I'm rambling... sorry. Its just concern and worry. ChaCha. Oh, and sorry Em C, for repeating anything you have said... didn't mean to. I'll leave the expert stuff to you and you can tell me to shut up! lol |

Em C... How right you are about diet... I suffered so much less when I reduced my alcohol intake, and cut down on caffeine - coffee is a treat and alcohol at birthdays and christmas mostly. My weaknesses are tomatoes and white bread... bad I know, but sometimes a bit of what you fancy is worth the pain afterwards (not that I'd agree with that statement whilst suffering the pain...lol). I'm intrigued as to what feild of work you did end up in... I imagine you would have made a good addition to the medical profession, and am now wondering what it is you do... bad for you as I have the strangest imagination...lol High-rise crane operator? Architect? Do you blow up stuff - Fred Dibnahs trainee? Deep sea diver trainer? Or do you own a pet pampering shop? Counterfeit money launderer... international jewel thief... greenpeace activist? Am I close yet? lol joking... :) |

BB definitely said that she was in hospital because of her IBS - I have spoken in quite some detail to her about it and given her all the adivce on diet etc. as I myself suffer from it - once badly enough to believe I had appendicitis. Something isn't quite right here - was it you Em C that said they often prescribe the drug she's taking (sorry can't remember name) for people suffering with depression? I wonder if BB is depressed?
