Paul, it has more in common with the slower tracks on Black Cherry than the upbeat, disco-y numbers |

Andy, I think Jeff's more taken with her than the music! No, he's very aware of how much lots of modern music sounds like the old stuff he's grown up hearing us play. It's really quite surprising. I actually liked a track I heard on the radio at the weekend and said it sounded like The Kinks. Jeff laughed and said it was Oasis! I've never been able to stay in the same room as Liam's whining before, but this track had Noel on lead vocal - a big improvement. Still not going to buy Oasis stuff though - on principle. I'm too old. CB >|< |

CB, Oasis are well-renowned musical magpies, the intro to 'Cigarettes & Alcohol' from Definitely Maybe is lifted straight from 'Get It On' by T-Rex (yep them again!). Funnily enough, I've always thought of Noel as being the better vocalist of the two, as well. I probably said at the time, but you have an impressive vinyl collection. |

Andy, I don't remember you saying that. Didn't realise you'd looked. The Russ Conway and James Last stuff was inherited when my in-laws passed on - I'd never have bought those! The vinyl collection would have been much larger, had it not been for my divorce in the 70s. A lot went the other way, so I've tried to replace them whenever I could with CD versions, although I've found they often leave out tracks from the originals or substitute them with others. I was particularly annoyed to find the second track on the first Stones album, Down Home Girl, was missing from the CD, as I no longer have the vinyl version. There are masses more CDs in Jeff's room - have a look next time. CB >|< |

Currently listening to Atchi Basq's 'Morning Sun' Glow Mix form CD 3 of Arabic Beats, part of a great CD collection of modern North African music. So far I've got Arabic Chillout, Arabic Cafe and Arabic Beats - wonderful stuff - highly recommended for Pink Sahara Trekkers! LOL CB >|< |

Son House & the Great Delta Bluesmen 1927-1930, i have over 700 Blues cds mainly 1925-1940s, dubed from the orignal 78s, this is the foundation of Rock & Roll, and here you will hear all todays music, there has been nothing new in music in the last 20 years, except perhaps Nirvana. Todays music has all been done before, you may not have been far enough back to have heard it, but its all been done. |

wouldn't say that what Nirvana did was that new...The Pixies (who've currently reformed and touring) broke that particular ground more and Nirvana rode along in their wake, IMHO. |
