Just a thought. Have you every thought of going to an Alpha course? (Just starting at a church near you ...). It's non threatening, usually has a nice meal and wine or soft drinks - you can leave at any time but you do get the opportunity to ask and discuss anything you like. You don't have to sign up to anything or go to church or anything. Just chew over Questions of Life ... Annie xxxx

Len of the Chilterns Report 12 Sep 2005 23:01

I too went to a church school (Cof E) . In my early twenties thought my vocation might be the church so started to study. The more I learned, the less I believed, as I never learned the political art of double-think. Today I would not pray as I do not think prayers achieve anything except, perhaps, giving comfort. I do believe that conciousness is separate from brain and is some sort of electromagnetic radiation - but man-made organised religion is a sham, the object of which is power. len

Thanks Elizabeth & Nell & everyone else who has given feedback. There's not a lot of it but nothing negative so I'm going ahead. If nobody is interested once it is up & running I will just delete. Vivienne

Vivienne 1. Re: your idea - I think its a good one. We did have a vigil moment for Gaynor earlier this year and I know I felt uplifted that we were all thinking of her at the same time. 2. Cut and paste - how to a. Use your mouse to highlight the area you want to cut and paste. b. Press Control + C [for cut]. If you want to delete the highlighted area from its original place, you can then press Control + X. c. Move your cursor to where you want the cut area to appear. Press Control + V. Sorted! nell

Hello Linen Lady.If this question was asked last week,I would not have replied to it.One of those questions you read, think about and let go.This week I feel a personal need to speak of religious belief. Through this site and the number of people asking for prayers and good thoughts,I have come to realise that so so many people would like to offer their support but feel they can't do that because they have either fell away from their religion or maybe don't have one.As this thread will cover all sorts of things I for one will give the thumbs up to you and will take part in it. When I asked for prayers last week,it was something I had never done in my life.I presonally took great comfort from the replys and knew I was not on my own.I think it is a great idea.I can't however offer you any advice or help on how to set it up as I am totally daft when it comes to computers.A while back, someone put this whole page up for me and I was thrilled.I thought the lady had typed it all out at super speed. She disapointed me and told me it was cut and paste!! I still don't know what that is... Hop-a-long

So Elizabeth, what do you think of my idea? Vivienne

Hello to you all.I have read this through and still don't know how to reply to it.After going to my brother in laws funeral,I realise my religious belief is so different from that of my sister.I fell away from my faith years ago because I asked so many questions and never got the reply I wanted. When it came time to say a prayer,I found myself asking was I a hipocrit (i cant spell the word).Who was I talking to and who was listening.I couldn't answer these questions so I didn't say the prayer to 'god'.I now find myself, like some of you, believing in an energy .Surely there is more to death than just becoming worm food....I like to think so. Hop-a-long.

I woke up this morning with an idea in my head, sparked by reading this thread last night no doubt. How about I open a virtual Healing Book? You post a healing request, then when I add the name & date to the book, you delete. After one or maybe two weeks I then delete that name & if healing is still required you post again. Everytime someone reads through the list a thought is sent to the universal energy. We could even have a healing minute, say at 10pm, when the thread could be nudged to the top. Thoughts please!!! Jenny, that is so NORMAL. I do pray, and firmly believe there is someone out there listening to me. BUT, I have my moments when I am so very angry, that I just cannot pray. We all go through it. Deanna XX

When someone on here asks for others to pray for them it's not essential that people have to post anything. If they have a belief all they have to do is offer a prayer for whoever is in need.

I don't pray so often feel awkward adding to these threads, although I do care. If something really touches me I will spend a minute thinking to myself or go and light a candle at the virtual candle sight and tell the person concerned I am thinking of them. I feel pretty helpless but I hope that the person concerned knows that I care. Claire xx

Hi Jenny. Interesting thread. I dont't pray but I don't feel guilty. I seem to have lost that RC guilt thing we were indoctrinated with when I was a child. Like a few other people, I believe there is a universal energy and if I send out strong, good thoughts, they will be collected somewhere, with others...and sent on to the person who needs them. BC XX
