General Chat

Hi Paul. I am with you 100% on this subject. I too am finding it very hard to keep up with all these 'new folks' I only ever went on the 'Chat board' when I first joined GR. Found it to be full of 20 year olds, much to young for me. Where the General board has always been in most circumstances for us older people. Sorry dont mean to sound rude to those that are in their 20's that use the General board, you are all usually on the same wavelength. But the new folks that have been posting today are a little mistaken if they think the General Topics board is like a 'chatroom'. You are on the wrong board. Genesreunited have a special board for those that just want to 'chat' Sorry if I have offended anyone, but it is just the way a lot of us feel. Jenny. Who has never changed her name.

Going by your messages and replies I have a feeling you are young at heart - it's just the every day aches and pains that get in the way am I right? and all the trappings that come with it. Lin

Hi Joan, sorry I have not seen you on the General Board before. I just answered Paul's thread, and gave my opinion. I am a 50 year old, probably too 'foggie' for some. But there is definatley a difference between the Chatroom board and the General Topic's Board in my own opinion. As far as I am concerned, some folks post on this board, thinking it is a 'Chatroom' Yes, ok it is up to a point. But I think you will find that the General Topic's board is not what some new members think, and they would be better using the 'Chatroom' I am most certainly not trying to class you as one of these people. l'd rather we all stuck to one name,what ever it may be. l for one don't have a long list of numbers to compare names with so find it very confusing. l have also been at the wrong end of someone changing their name pretending to be a member of my family. For all l know that person could still be on the boards. But hey this is free world and we all have a choice!! jude sarf wales ;o|

I like chatting on both boards! Sometimes the other board is slow but the conversation I find is nice and pleasant. Keeley

Last night there was a whole crowd- me included- that changed their name for a particular reason, most of whom- i think- have changed back now. I kind of regret changing 'Jess bow bag coconut kumquat satsuma dog' didn't have that same ring to it, it served its purpose and had no malicious thought anywhere near. Surley -''i'm confused ,who were you ?'' would help with this situation even if the new name bod PM'd the requester? jess x

right, back for a few minutes. Sorry to stir things up, but like Maz earlier, it needed to be said. Let me say for the record I'm not totally against name changes, I did it myself last night when we all got a bit fruity (lol) but I think most people would have known it was me still - I always sign off, or have in my board name 'Paul' so its obvious it's me. Have nothing wrong with having a laugh - BUT its got to the point where I don't both reading most of the threads, because I don't have a clue whats going on. Judging by the other threads from Maz and Pat today, it's not just me - I know quite a few are unhappy about it. Those that disagree with me - I won't try and change your mind, we'll just agree to differ :)
