I have a 15 pane glass door, all week the glass shines and the house is neat. Come the weekend and all change, eg yesterday, 2 sons, 1 daughter in law, 2 beloved step Granddaughters, Amy my sons baby 3 months, and one dog Ebony, arrive for lunch. They go home, me shattered, house a tip, and the glass door is covered in finger prints at various heights. Bottom....Ebony with her doggy nose, panes up the next 2....Morgan and Shelby 6 and 3 yrs, then at the next level my two sons, who never use handle, normally I end the day by saying to myself just look at that door! Today I was cleaning it and a thought crossed my mind.......each of those prints is precious, they mean my family come, they are all safe for another week, and as long as each print appears on a regular basis, I am a very lucky lady, if one of those prints were missing my heart would break. All of a sudden I was thankful for the chore of cleaning my door till next week. soon Amy will be adding to the bottom pane God willing, and long may it last. But it also made me stop and think of Gaynor, who I never knew, and her loved ones, and all other people whose fingerprints are missing. So for them I shall never mind those precious fingerprints again. Sorry this is long. |

Ahhh bless you! That was a very reflective moment. (no pun intended) I have just this afternoon beem doing hand, feet and finger painting with my kiddies and I compared my oldest footprint to her baby one. :o( Felt a bit like Wendy did after looking through George's baby box. Cleaning up the mess didn't seem like such a chore after I stuck the prints in their scrap books. Claire xx |

thanks Clare, we don't always know a moment is precious, and I enjoyed reading about your painting, tiny things like that count as time given is more important than anything else you can give xxxxx |

There used to be so many Of my finger prints to see On furniture and walls and things From sticky, grubby me. But if you stop and think awhile You’ll see I’m growing fast These little moments disappear You can’t bring back the past. So here is a small reminder To keep, not throw away Of tiny hands and how they looked To make you smile someday. We did this at Playgroup and added the childs painted hand to the bottom. Anna :-) |

Awww thats lovely Lemon I have 7 precious g/kids but one lives in Oz so don't see her very much but she was here for Christmas last year and her bedroom door had all sorts of marks on it, after she left I let the marks stay there for as long as poss. and if the door was closed I could imagine her inside, so leave those prints on there a badge of love Norah x |
